Never liked the guy at all. There's a culture in racing that people can act however they want because they're winners in pursuit of ultimate speed. Particularly in Formula 1 and other top levels. You can see grown men acting like children and to my eyes at least, it sucks. You make your bed and you lie in it. That's my view. Fair enough, he could've jumped ship once this TT was over but doing it before because it doesn't look like he's going to win on the Yam shows him for what he is.....an overgrown child who'll sh*t on anyone, including his brother, just to get what he wants. I hope his engine blows up. In every race.
Probably none of the factory teams will employ him again! Look at the history Spat his dummy out cos he thought John mcguiness had a better bike so left honda and they aren't forgiving just look how they treated Rossi. Drop kawasaki cos he didn't like doing press stuff Jumped ship from bmw cos he thought the R1 was better Jumped ship from yamaha cos it not competitive enough. The way he's going it only gonna be royal Enfield left for him to ride and they don't compete
I am not taking sides with Michael Dunlop, as I must admit I am not his biggest fan and will agree that he does have a habit of going to where the grass is supposedly greener and not making many friends in the industry, but I wouldn't fancy running a bike around the Isle of Man that once there, started to suffer with oil issues. I am no expert and I may be getting the wrong end of things, but as a racer myself, I want to have 100% faith and confidence in my bike. I don't approve of what MD has done and he should have thought twice before writing the Yamaha off. After all, as has been said, where else can he go? Maybe he should have stuck with Yamaha, worked with them and got what he could from the bike, even if that meant a TT meeting lost. Yes he was right in not wanting to ride the bike until the mechanical issues were sorted, but no he was completely in the wrong to jump ship.
I have spoken to several very influential guys in the paddock this week and not 1 of them would give Michael a ride. Or at least that's what they say. When it comes to paying the bills results matter because sponsors want their brands at the pointy end. Lets hope we see loyalty pay off and Hutchy on the top of the podium
Another thing, how does this look for the new R1? Not good having a top rider leaving it in the lurch because 'it's a bit shit!!' Will be interesting to see if it effects sales..
Was two at brands yesterday, absolutely stunning and loving the M in the flesh.... Anyone who wouldn't buy one cos of the issues they are getting is at tt is a bit daft imo... It's a new bike under the most extreme test on the planet. Chances are they will iron the probs out by next year, and it'll come back as the thing to beat. Could even dominate for a few years. But MD only thinking about the next week, not the long game.... But its totally up to him what path he takes. Hope it doesn't bite him, but think it will tbh in the long run.
f it were a Ducati, he'd defiantly be waking up with a horses head in his bed. Bet the factory are going nuts!!! And will no doubt pull out all the stops to make sure he's beaten next year lol
I really hope Dean Harrison on the R1 leaves his fat arse standing in the superbike race just to rub his nose in it! The arrogant bleep bleep bleepity bleep (censored) just in case the moderators are listening! He thinks the TT revolves around him! He's a total Gareth!
If they were the Seton tuning ones then they're not the R1M's, just the standard R1's. Very well tricked out and sound fantastic as they're coming past you, time and time and time again in the endurance race at Snet lol. As for Dean Harrison, I hope he does really well as he's a top guy and is just getting better and better. He did a couple of Hottrax Endurance races last year and one of the team army guys (retired from army but now runs a bike school) taught him to pass his road bike licence . Deano and Russ Mountford stripped his rear shock for him, tested it in their race truck, set it up and refit it for him. You have to hand it to MD though, big balls to turn around and go 'this isn't working so I'm not racing it'. I bet a lot of racers have wanted to do that and have played the diplomatic card instead. He made his point in testing yesterday by being 4th fasted on the stock BMW amongst the superbikes and the fact that buildbase have pulled out all the stops to get bikes (Kiyonari's BSB bike ) to him shows the regard in which they stand him.
Nope two separate bikes, one an instructor and another a dude on td, both friends of friends so had a good chat with both and look round the bikes.... Def R1M's brands gp brings out the finest of people Was an r6 next to one... Felt the same weight wise
Nice, I've only seen 3 new R1's on track and they've all been the standard ones. Glad to see some getting used in anger.
They are unreal, really are.... The instructor was letting his mate use it too Pals mate seemed very pleased with it too Shame Md's is feeding itself oil lol
Not from what I've read mate. Hence why some have gone pop apparently? But don't know the numbers or who's?!
Ye, MD said in a post race interview that the back marker was overtaken by Bruce and then the back marker followed Bruce into the corner, running wide and clipping the kerb, bouncing back into the track and taking MD out. Both are okay with the back marker having a broken clavicle so not too serious.
Good, he is a fud! !! Glad he is not hurt bad, as much as I don't like him never want to see anyone hurt
A side to MD that isn't often seen. He stopped on the practice lap to help his brother who'd crashed and injured himself.
