Thanks Muffking, much appreciated.. Just sent Mark a text of possible bracket shape. will give you 9 possible positions, 5 if you pivot from top, 4 if you pivot from bottom. If you copy it in plywood and see if anything fouls anything else and get back to me?
Can make bracket 20mm smaller and have only 7 positions. Can you take pix from back of bike to see what clearances are available? Can step both brackets out from frame if necessary?
I like the idea of a plywood template. That would be idal to check for fouling. Not sure if these are from the correct angles but here goes. Both are under the right peg and show the rear of the brake where the spring is, that's the bit to be aware of when you lower the bracket.
Yep I'll be happy to be added to the list as the finish on the ones you made for yours looks fine to me, not that different a shine to the standard brackets.
Would you mind measuring the max width of the standard brackets mate, ie 60mm plus width of casting top and bottom. I can order some ally then and get on with em? Can you bell me when convenient mate, I think I pm'd my number.Cheers, Alan.
I don't have your number, I think Mark does? Are these the measurements you mean? I would also say that the hole centres are 59mm apart with M8 bolts, just to be exact.
Yes that's it mate and the depth of the mounting points on the frame, from the outside of the main frame to the flat part where the bracket touches? Gimme a bell for clarification?
Allan I'm sure I have designs made up for these at work mate. I'll more than happily give them to you. I just need to check on my mates bike to make sure all the sizes are correct. Or if you give me the sizes you have I'll check from that.
Thanks Colin, any help most welcome. Bolt hole centres are 59 or 60mm. Was gonna use 10mm 6082 T6 ally. Can you PM them to me please?
Yep you did PM me your number, apologies for that, I had no notification for some reason. I think I get your question, you basically need to know how sunk the bolt position in the frame is, which is 11mm at the thickest part. So 10mm ally would fill the recess nicely and also space the right peg out enough to clear the fairing. I've pulled my peg down & back, I meaured an ideal re-mounting point of 30mm down and at least 30mm back (or any variation between), with the only problem being with the brake switch wire pulling, but I'm hoping that I can get underneath and extend the cable.
Thanks mate. Mark wanted 50 back and 50 down, 30mm back and down might be possible with off the shelf brackets that Haggler suggests, but wouldn't have the range of adjustment that mine have.
I'd go for 50mm. The only reason I ended up measuring 30mm was because I couldn't get the pull on the pipes & cables without disconnecting things, but I would hope that it's possible to get them to stretch without much of a problem. Plus I assume that the 50mm bracket would have provision to got to 30mm in the event that I can't extend the reach of the brake switch?
I can build in a range of adjustment, up, down, back and forward. The standard brackets hold all the usual bits, just need clearance from fairing, swingarm and enough cable. another request, can you measure the distance of the top mount to the footrest and similar for bottom mount, pleeeze.
A range of down and back positions would do me. Just pulled the peg bracket again and it's definately only the brake switch restricting movement, so removing the switch to find a way to make it reach past 30mm shouldn't be a problem. The measurements I understand to be between each centre hole to the centre of the foot peg are, top=110mm, bottom=115mm. Once you've done this, I do with fiding a way to have a bracket made up to clip a disc lock into that can be bolted somewhere to the bike, although one job at a time ehh :-D
