Thanks for the advice guys, it'll be the 1st time I've ever been legal on a bike, but I've been riding since I was 13 on & off road, I take the stance firstly you ride it with respect & the bike will respect you & I have thought long & hard on other choices, the closest 2nd being a gixxer 750 & no disrespect to the suzuki, their an awesome bike, but no one will argue the honda is far superior in terms of quality & reliability. but that said I do need to hurry up because our famous weather looks like its about to return
LOL - the blade is cheaper than a woman matey and never has a headache ...... personally, id be pushing it to get at least a 2008 model or latter because they are much better year models in my opinion - lighter, steering dampenings good and better handling.
........more ugly, slower, poor quality plastics, harder to work on, hours just to take rear pegs off
A lot of talk about the vaunted build quality, reliability and blistering performance of the FireBlade here but lets not forget its tractability either. It behaves itself so well that it is without doubt the easiest superbike to ride. In my opinion its an ideal choice for a new rider as it has everything going for it. Browndog will be able to commute with it, tour with it and as his confidence comes race with it, if he so chooses, on a track of course. It has no evil characteristics to catch him out and no electronic wizardry to confuse him and goad him into bad decisions. I'm sure he doesn't need me to be condescending and warn him just to be careful with it as he'll always be one sneeze away from 170 odd horses through a contact patch the size of a credit card. I think it's a good choice. It'll save him a lot of effort and procrastination moving through the power ranks later on.
I know what you mean, leaving your grey matter on the mantle peice before going out is what I'd do when I'd do out on my KX or CR, but I'd like to think I've mattured like a fine wine rather than just aged( without the oak cask that is) but I have ridden an R1 & a 600 blade, although they weren't mine so I refrained from riding them like I stole them
Thanks for the vote of confidence, I have done a lot of reading on reviews of these bikes & the 06 model stood out as the best for me at the price that wouldn't break the bank, & it'll be used for a bit of fun on the weekends when that yellow shiney thing is out, but by the looks on things I've deffinetly joined the right forum, Cheers guys
Welcome to the forum browndog, I've got a black rr6 now, love it to bits, been terrible being away with work all week, especially when there's a nice shiny exhaust waiting to be fitted on my return. Enjoy whatever you get. WTF's a " foof " ?
In my opinion the blade is the best bike out. Absolutely love it and I'm sure you will too. Treat her with respect cos the bitch will try to throw you off tho! Make sue your teeth are clean cos it's gonna make you smile like a Cheshire Cat . Enjoy
