Only just heard about the Suzuki situation, really shocked to be honest its one of the best bikes on the grid and they have put so much into evolving that bike over the years and let's not forget, it won the championship a couple of years ago! Oh well, two quality riders looking for job and the word is Pol Espagaro has been given a talking too and is on his way out and Joan Mir has his job!! Moto gp needs all the manufacturers in it though in my opinion, Kawasaki should make a return
Are Yamaha following the Honda approach of having a bike that only a single rider can win on their bike? Of course Honda seem to have taken this approach to the extreme and now have a bike that only a single rider can finish a race on!
Thing is the Yamaha hasn't been built around Quartararo, its always been the most user friendly bike according to the pundits. I just think everyone else that is riding one is not in the best form. Franky, Dovi and well.......Binder?? Honda have introduced this revised RCV for this season which clearly no one can ride, not even Marquez!!! But he has shown flashes of brilliance on it. They're in a mess that's for certain!!
Yamaha haven't designed it around one rider, but only one rider can ride it well enough to do anything. I struggle to believe that none of the other riders are so poor this season as to not even trouble the top 10. Unlike Honda who out all their eggs in one basket with Marquez, I think Yamaha don't have that great a bike are simply lucky to have El Diablo on their bike, and I expect his new contract reflected that.
The Yamaha is a great bike lacks a little top end but we're talking not much the best bit of it is it loves corners and is more agile than say a Ducati who have flooded the grid this season and added more aero and wings and has become fickle to ride ,,the other Yamaha riders very lucky to hold onto their rides shame we won't see Toprak next season in Moto gp but wsbk will be brillant with him in it .....I see Macams Yamaha have a wildcard entry into BSB going to be interesting although with no AIDS a tough job but would be good to see them skin the BMWs ....as for knock hill time to stop racing around a go kart track I get giddy watching it ...Rory skinner to ride in a Moto 2. Round great news he's our next hope at Moto GP
I made a comment last year saying FQ will struggle against ducati this year. In my view is has become a battle of electronics and rider aids: winglet, ride height etc... which is a shame. In those terms, ducati has a big advantage, just look at their different riders are always in the top half. This year the electronics can make thenm corner too. Yamaha electronics is nowhere as good as; FQ has learnt how to cope with it and find the limit as opposed to his team mates. He is making up for defficiencies with pure talent and has to always ride on the limit. The difference is the ducati riders with their better hardware, have good results but if they push the bike to it's limit, they fall off.
Spoiler: No specifics but just in case Wow what a race, 2 riders who deserved a win based on their performance didn't even finish on the podium. Roll on part 2 of the season!
Great coverage on BT sport really enjoyable puts Eurosport to shame....hopefully Fabip can win ...I see Ducati have now put wings on the Tailend looks like a dragon ...no doubt will be a update on road bike next year and add 2k for the improved aero....
those wings front, rear should be banned. The long lap rule are totally stupid and should be taken at the discretion of the rider similar to 5 sec penalty in other racings. Yamaha defficiencies CF ducati are too numerous and on some tracks even FQ cannot make up for them although I think if he had been in the lead early on he could had gapped the rest enough to make up for the long lap and have a safety margin on the long straights. Team yam shot themselves in the foot by not testing the hard tyres
Didn’t they say the long lap penalty at Silverstone only added 1.2 seconds. I prefer that to a 5 second penalty.
yes it was commentators baseless speculation to spice things up (as they always do). In practice it was 2sec+/- . In motogp considering how tight the grid is I think 2sec added time would be a good handicap/ punishment. 5 sec would send the rider to the very back, they might as well go home and eat their sadwich
