When I was buying my bike it was either £10k or so on a new bike, or a £5k budget on a slightly older model and put £5k into that bike. I chose the later as the 06/07 model compared to the 08/09 model that the latest at that time had wider bars, a longer reach to the bars and a bit more room around the legs etc and it suited my 6'2 frame better. As for mods, I'll list the main ones,

Full Arrow titanium system (bought used)
    Ohlins shock (bought new)
    Ohlins forks (bought used)
    PVM wheels (bought new)
K+N's with PC3, O2 eliminator and custom map (all new)

I do have lots of other wee bits and bobs done like carbon bits, a lovely Talon rear sprocker, Hel braided hoses, 2011 Tociko mono-block calipers from last years Repsol etc etc, but I don't really count those as mods, mare of a necessity, everything else is just showing off. I'd say, as a result, that with the same rider on what I've built and what I was going to buy, that the route I'vw chose is the better bike, but I'm not good enough a rider to exploit how good the bike is, but my fuck does it look good LOL

That's why I have every original nut and bolt so when it goes it will go as a completely standard bike :)

I got an RR8 for a good price over the winter which has had the usual done, Power Commander, Arrow pipe, filter and braided lines.

I got a set of Carbon Wheels for a steal and I had some ISR levers hanging around in the back of the garage that have gone on.

Got some Second hand but mint Gilles rearsets and chain adjusters from e bay again for a good price.

In the past with other bikes i have blinged them right up but has cost me a fortune over the years so decided not to do as much on the blade.
Akrapovic carbon can/seat cowl already on the bike when i got it. I have added tail tidy and a pair of ASV levers wouldnt mind the high screen then thats all i am doing.

Just steady stuff for me; its an age thing.

Taller Screen, Rad Guard, Crash Bobbins, Venture Shield, Tank Grips, Grabrail, Helibars, Gear Indicator & Exhaust Valve Mod.

May consider a QAT for the comfort.

Well since posting my comments on page 2 i have now purchased a CBR954RR2, and as i said i am going to be adding '' nice '' extras that add to the overall look and feel of the bike. It already has a power commander and a Leo Vince can (nice), other than that its standard (forget the chavvy double bubble iridium screen !!!). I will be adding my shorty pazzo levers (all black) and an OEM tall screen, add to this some crash bungs and swingarm protectors and a Gilles gear selector bar (assists with gear changing and reduces the force needed to change gear and assist the gear box).

I have also managed to pick up a used Ohlins shock from ebay, this will be fitted by KAIS (a few miles away from my house) and the whole bike set up by them for my height and weight. Other than that, then i may have the seat re-covered and gel inserts added later on, but thats about it...... really really small bike, i knew it was tiny but even for my 5ft 7'' colossus of a frame it looks small.
