Actually that may be the race 1 above as im sure the sports cat 1 has a flap to connect your cable to
Is that bulge in the S bend a cat or just a bit more silencer? My standard pipes have bulges with little silencers in, ie short lengths of perforated tube!!!
NO i think its just a power bomb . The akra with a cat has a square part with a flapper so you retain the servo and cable function from the flapper in the standerd exhaust
that buldge in the s bend mate . FMF Motocross exhausts have the budlge and they call it a power bomb ..Have a look below at whats inside ImageShack® - Online Photo and Video Hosting
Can anyone tell me if there is such a thing as an Akra exaust with no cat which does not have 'not for road use' etched on it? I have asked suppliers and dealers and they all give different variations on the truth!!!!
I think the photo supplied hides the square unit where the cables fit to the EC legal cat version this shows it in more detail http://www.akrapovic.com/motorcycle-exhaust/products/honda/model/cbr-1000-rr-2008/slip-on-32/ and this shows the open version http://www.akrapovic.com/motorcycle-exhaust/products/honda/model/cbr-1000-rr-2008/slip-on-31/ I have the Open 'Not for road use' Akra can with the standard linkpipe (no buldge) it has a removable baffle and the honda dealer I bought the bike off have assured me that there will be no MOT issues with themselves. The Slip on akra with the buldge in the linkpipe is the sportscat version of the slip on so is 'road legal' apparently but it has the same can with removable baffle ?. I am unsure why they stamp the can as it seems to be the linkpipe that makes it legal or not ? I am guessing and may be wrong, but as with cars it is technicaly illegal to decat a vehicle which was supplied with an OE cat due to emmisions laws ?????
Dont think they test bike emissions for MOT's anyway. I'm just not keen on having a can that has 'not for road use' written on it just to be told off by some know all plod! Did you sell your Blade yet Rob??? Which variation of the Akra have you got on your Blade?
My 600 passed its mot with not for road use stampped on it and my dads BMW passed decatted .. different mot tester failed the BMW decatted this year so went back to the guy who passed it the year before and he passed it again.. I guess it is examiners discretion
I reaslise people are talking about Akrapovic cans specifically but for info I have a road legal can (with cert to proof) that has NO CAT but does have a removable baffle.
To be road legal it needs to be a certain noise level. 99 or 101db or something The cat is just for homologation which means the exhaust keeps the bike as legal as it was when it left the factory.
Oh yeah and my Leo vince came with a sticker to put on the headstock next to frame number which shoes the E number and legality of the exhaust and noise level My can doesn't have a cat so is not homologated but is road legal as wih he baffle it is within noise regs
Excuse my stupidty but what difference does it make if the exhaust is homologated or not if the exhuast is road legal ?
AHHHHH thats what the sticker is for ... when I saw it on the box I thought "thats gonna burn off if I stick it on the can" .... doh !!!!!
Just to be manufactured yes Your blade with no cat won't make more co2 than a 10 year old blade with no cat for example though and there's nothing to stop that passing it's MOT.
