I have a similar story of a friend of mine (zx10 rider - explains alot) Having a mid life crisis he went to the local Harley/ducati/aprilla dealer wanted to test ride a HD XR1200X and a Ducati Diavel !!!!! - had to sign the £1000 piece of paper the sales men suggests that he ride the ducati and my mate follow on the HD - and then later on they would swap - so he could ride both bikes in one go. Long story short trying to keep up with the diavel on the XR - didnt make a corner wrote the bike off - broke one wrist and cracked the bone in the other. 10 nths later still in a wrist brace and cant ride the zx10 (we have said he cant ride fuck all) moral dont ride bloody harley's
My mate from the gym lost half his chest coming off a Harley trying to keep up with his mates on sports bikes, he kept saying it's as fast on straights as the sports bikes I said yeah but nit great in corners. Then didn't see him for 12 months, then he returned with half his chest missing. Lovely to look at them harleys but leave em in the states!
I had to sign to agree to pay a grand straight away if i crash , had to leave my bank card with them as well Let us know how he gets on
I heard of a few bikes that were signed out - mainly sports bikes in London, and signing the £1k deposit thing - then they would come back and say someone stole it!! Handed over the £1000 and said they stopped at a shop for something, came out and it was gone.. (into the back of my mates van!) Brand new R1 RRP £13k for a grand... bargain.
No, I've ridden bikes into ditches before mate. They say in a crash to let yourself go loose but I've only ever managed to master it from the waist down.
Could you just imagine the look on the salespersons face, shovelling bike out the back of a transit is one thing but a ruddy great Richard the third on the seat for good measure, would just be the icing on the cake. I was going to say priceless, but judging from the response from all you good folk, the the going rates a grand.
A few years ago a mate of mine was on the hunt for anew 1000cc sports bike and went to the local Suzuki dealership. The shop isn't too far from my house so I got atext asking if I was home and fancied afew laps of the Ulster gp circuit (also on my doorstep) Off we went on our way for our first 'sighting' lap. I followed and watched as he tipped into Turnagrough, down goes the knee and I think, 'nice one fella' but it was soon followed by elbow, hip, bum, shoulder and bike. A few rolls of the bike and him and they came to a stop. Thankfully no cars were coming the other way but the only salvageable bits were the motor, frame, swingarm and subframe. Funny thing is, the guy in question attends every road race as the on scene, rapid response doctor and has probably been around that corner 100's of times. He actually bought the bike though and took it to therace season after having put it all back together.
now that is one very yum bike love that colourway gutted for ya mate that sucks >.< half the reason I won't take my mates demo gixer sixer out just in case
Quiet the opposite I have found from American friends and non ride ride HD. Yes it's a big culture in the US but think of the size of the place. Loadsof straight roads but I bet there are more twisty roads over then then we have in the Uk due to the size.
ouch a grand thats an expensive ride almost as bad as getting married. my only close call on a test ride was decking out a gold wing on the first roundabout, they dont have the ground clearance of a blade. lol
Test rode a S1000rr when they first came 2 years ago and had to sign up for £2000. I nearly never took it out as it was Febuary and frosty .
