OK well EP5 is up now already 5. Engine Swap Project, Fitting a CBR1000RR motor to a 98 CBR900RR Fireblade (PART 5) HD - YouTube
yes mate you can buy one off me, 5£ and I'll send it to you from belgium, think of it as my contribution
Thanks very much skippy will measure today (forgot yesterday) and let you know the size needed really appreciated buddy Yours is 178mm Daz? Does sound more like what I need... Drive is a ball ache, normally cover the front brake of course but didn't have one haha. Wasn't expecting it to be quite as tricky as that, good job I had the abba fitted to slow it otherwise I would have been off at high speed! Haha
OK so small update, fitted the airbox and injectors and also the manifold. Cut the end off where the exhaust "turns up" which also removes the cat which is handy for perhaps a few extra ponies Problem is its a long system and the join doesnt happen until quite far back so tail pipe connecting is going to be tricky.. Also as the left engine mount is quite "far out" there is room to mount the rec inside.. What do you think too hot there?
I would have thought that would be fine in there. Lovely big chunk of alloy for extra heatsinking! She,s looking good. Are you going for polished frame finish??
Haha no sorry didn't record that bit, should have as it wasn't easy! Going for light polish rocket on the frame, not mirror. Have the fuel tank almost sorted now too. Update soon
Good call on the light polished look. I think the glass finish is a bit cheesy unless on a bike of a certain period/style. Just my opinion though.
OK well EP6 is now ready, wizzing through this 6. Engine Swap Project, Fitting a CBR1000RR motor to a 98 CBR900RR Fireblade (PART 6) HD - YouTube
Thanks Jim will do OK now im getting to the point where I need to wire in the new clocks, started these discussions 10 or so pages ago but never got to the bottom of one connector which was the SP-VCC. On the 2012 clocks this is fed directly from the VS Sensor (speed sensor?) on the RR4 loom there isnt a SP-VCC connection on the clocks only the one speed (SP) there is also a speed signal to the 2012 clocks (SP-SIG) Any idea if I need to connect something to the SP-VCC going to the clocks? Perhaps this signal does exsist on the RR4 loom but just doesnt go to the clocks? Any ideas chaps? Heres the connections I have so far worked out:
OK bit more info after looking at the RR4 loom diagram, the speed sensor on the RR4 has three wires, pink which goes to the clocks + the ECU and is the main speed signal wire. Green/black which goes earth and brown/white which goes to the lighting circuit so I presume 12v feed.. So anyone who knows about these things, SP-VCC to the clocks needed or not?
Well im banned from the garage for the next three days by the missus, something about family time.. I dont know what shes on about So last update for a couple of days, started on the wiring last night to see whats going to go where and to try and identify what each connector is and where it goes. These modern engines are covered in sensors all over the place!! Rear end, was going to mount the fuses in the tail but think now I may try them down the left had side of the bike behind where the fairing will go. More wiring mess Need to blank off the exhaust servo motor and steering damper so dont get the flashing alarm on the dash + the reduced power output when its in this state.. Read somewhere on another forum the exhaust valve can be blanked off with an easy created circuit.. Will try and find it. Also had some post this morning, all the wiring gear needed to connect and spruce up the loom. Heat shrink, twisted coverings and some P clips and zip ties. Also engine paint arrived, trying this VHT stuff this time with a silver titanuim finish on the crank cases and then aqua blasted covers I think..
