Thanks very much guys means a lot the feedback ordered a load of polishing kit today ready for the frame work and the casing paint is here already so hoping to get started on the engine tomorrow. Back to the day job though tomorrow boooo
Well started stripping the engine today, all degreased and ready for the first coat of primer. Spraying with the cases on as they will be aqua blasted anyway to remove it and then dont have to worry about overspray getting inside. both side casings and rocket getting blasted. Paint will go on tomorrow
Primer on. Doing an hour of work then poping out in the garage to spray another coat, joys of working from home
Looking Great John Looking forward to some decent weather, still haven't had the chance to get out and see how the RaceFit Black sounds.
Thanks Wedgie Well im like a mad man, EP10 now ready 10. Engine Swap Project, Fitting a CBR1000RR motor to a 98 CBR900RR Fireblade (PART 10) HD - YouTube
are you not putting block off plates on the rocker cover? for blocking off the pair valve? thats soemthing you could make yourself, and would give you that little bit extra room up at the front.
Hi Skippy, yes I will blank off the PAIR system and your right I could probably make up the plates myself to save some $$.. Will give that a go later today
I made them myself for my R6 as I had the engine out and had time an the materials, didn't do it on the blade though, ordered them before I even had the blade home Just find a piece of steel and draw them out, then we cut them and filed them until close to perfection..... making them myself cost about 10€, buying them cost about 30€ if I remember correctly.... That engine looks the dogs(or wedgies ) nuts..... I might have to pop over just to see this bike IRL!!!
I have some 2mm alloy sheet which I think will be perfect.. Will remove the standard ones and draw around them for a template. Excellent was wondering what todays job was going to be Puts off the valve clearance check another day hehe
I don't mind doing the valve clearance, it only takes a while if you want it done right. I know companies that do it in 30min, don't understand how they can charge the money they are charging for clearance and not even do it correctly.. Last time I did the R6 it must have taken us most of the evening and into the night before we we're done. not sure how strong 2mm is, but if strong enough than away you go, that should be done within 1 hr or so
Yeah will see how strong it is.. Need some 3mm anyway so may buy that instead perhaps. Will try it and see. Yes not done valve clearances before but have my trusty manual here, will only check them if they are out and need reshiming may drop it off with a good local mechanic ive used before to make the adjustments.. Let’s see
Yes did think about Arthur, but this chap is like a mile away though Martin and more than capable to do valve clearances. Going to see if it needs doing first.. May even be brave and attempt the work myself yet if it does.. Been a bit silly and should have done this before painting it as the paint doesnt fully cure until the engine is hot so will rub off if I do transport it anywhere... Silly man
Yes he could perhaps come to me.. Fingers crossed it wont need shiming but now I can see its going to just to be a pain haha. Im thinking DIY jobbie now if it does
