Thanks Tug Well more news today, found a great local welding company called Task weld Task Welding UK | Oil & Gas, Aviation, Marine and Nuclear Welding Services | Welding Company Portsmouth, Hampshire went down to see them this afternoon with the Ti link piece and the GSXR can. Well I was a little worried as on closer inspection the GSXR Akro can seems to be Stainless Steel on the link piece.. So went to see the guys and they confirmed it, its stainless! Well you cant weld stainless to Ti easily but thank fully those guys are full equipped to be able to do it! Phew.. So took it home got Mr angle grinder out (again) and started to do some more Akrapovic exhaust hacking haha, making quite a habit of it now Anyway have it cut and pushed on ready for welding tomorrow. Started it up and its quite quiet! Was very surprised so dont think there is going to be any track day or MOT issues which is great news.
yep thats it Martin, hoping the chaps down there can weld it tomorrow for me.. What they have suggested is they tack weld it first and I then take it home to trial fit and if its good then I take it back for seem welding. I also want them to add a little bracket so I can mount it under the frame. No news from Wicked Coatings yet on the tail and mudguard, they said end of this week early next.. Will email them Monday see how its coming.
yeah cant help that Gilesy Im very happy with it, would have preferred the Austin but this has saved me a fair packet too... Did look a little odd with the huge diameter link pipe with the AR connecting to a tiny headers which you would have seen when fitted.. So im happy with it, the nice new Akra sticker will make it look better your see
Just listed on Ebay Should be fine, need £450 back and its brand spankers and cost £699 + VAT from AR so fingers crossed..
not too sure what I think about it too be honest LC, maybe with the fairings on it will look better, but something says it doesn't look right, yet what about ground clearance when on angle? glad it's all coming together and you could soon be riding it!
Ideally skippy I would like to tuck it under more perhaps but the angle of the link pipe wont work at all then. I've held the lower fairing up and it does look good. Also it not absolutely at the right angle and need some pressure to twist and push to where I want it and can't make it stay in possition for photos so don't pass judgement just yet
Looking smart!!! Will be there when its on the road make sure you let us all know! Bank Holiday weekend......
Well im hoping next weekend could be the one.. Exhaust sorted today / early next week then the tail comes back mid week then need to arrange MOT with my chap.. Will call him today book it in for Friday perhaps to be sure.. So yeah next weekend!! Better make it a Sunday as the Monday bound to be rubbish weather!! Too many people to meet at once though, will be brain overload!!!
Im never going to beat you on the road Martin am I Mind you have had a sneaky ride already this year haven't you..
Where you going Clarkey? Dont worry will be up there loads this Summer, you will be sick of seeing it by August
