Those gsxr prices are for their gsxr1000r and not the gsxr1000 which is approx £13k.

Yes the Honda will always be a bit more than the other jap bikes but if they start asking Ducati V4 prices for base model fireblade then that is way too much.

I’m think of selling both my blades and buying a 2019 blade but wondering how much of a difference there is between the two different years.

No rush there will be plenty of them in the spring.....went to Yamaha they are going to let me know when they have a R1m demo to ride ...they have ordered one in not all sold online so late Feb early March ride new blade then R1m also spoke to Ducati new v4 s in dealers late Dec....so get out on that around the same time...BMW ruled out for now as going pop at 2k miles or carbon wheels failing although great to ride and very comfortable the new blade looks a lot smaller so will see at show next wk...but colours will put me off...reviews will be interesting and real world figures...

Yay! I'm busting for Tuesday to come. I'll really have to discipline myself to not go on Saturday; but as mentioned, just too packed for comfort. Like you, I am still dithering a bit before buying my last 'treat'. Still have the R1M in the back of my mind (far back), but am more keen on the new SP - pending price. But as we've covered before, why should I pay an extra 5K for Brembos and Ohlins that I won't get the benefit of?

Yikes, as if 180-something BHP isn't enough to get one in to serious trouble, where could an extra 25 or so be used.. On my tame (because I'm rubbish) track day at Brands Hatch a few months back, I hardly got out of 3rd gear on the straights on the GP circuit. Then I scared myself to death trying to slow down from 150+ mph to 40-50 mph. I think the new blade is aimed at those of you guys and girls that enjoy roller coasters, bungie jumping and sky-diving..
Of course, that said, it doesn't mean I wouldn't like one though. Dimensions on the web suggest it's a little longer and a little wider than my RA-H with a bigger rear tyre. Not sure I like those wings, reminds me a bit of the sporty Honda Civic with a look-at-me spoiler on the back (not as in-your-face as the old Sierra Cosworth RS though I guess). I can imagine those aerodynamics getting full use on my daily commute into central London :D

I wish the R1 came with Brembo's, awesome stopping is always good... Ohlins only needed for track really though, where you need to adjust to the enth degree, however the electronic ones are better for road they say? But yes they do look f****** good,

Not me. Hate heights and whizzy things. My greatest thrill-seek was riding the London Eye.:)

Wings are most useful and effective. If it were not for Iveco, Honda wouldn't be up there with the best!

I can see the design fault with it - something the tech-heads have not thought of....

I bet the new blade will have a bigger radar signature  not very stealth. It will ping back radar-gun signals like a barn door :D

    Only kidding :D

    Friggin' asses!

Just phoned dealer and Honda UK and both claim there's no pricing structure released as yet.

Surely they'd have a price ready for the NEC tomorrow?:mad::mad:

Cheers. Makes complete sense because I had been reliably told that prices would be available on the 15th. Ta.;)

Fair call, @Lozzy . I accept I can get up people's noses. But we are talking about a multi-national, high profile company that is promoting its product via its own website, yet is unwilling to provide a price to prospective consumers. Sure, we understand the frenzy of 'carrot-dangling' and the like, but if pictures, tests and specs are offered to the public, why not price?

So what's next? We go back to Microsoft's midnight release antics of Windows 95 and 98, or WH Smiths midnight release of the latter Harry Potter books? Yeah, that's the go. We'll line up outside our dealers in HRC and Repsol leathers and shirts, debit/credit card or finance application in hand, skull free complimentary coffees, and order and receive our shiny new bike along with an environmentally friendly sample bag of free gifts.

Sadly, doesn’t look like the price is going to be released today as no news yet?

It would be a better world with a few more people like Nigel who are not afraid to stand up and be counted. (Just don’t ask his Ex’s )
