Precisely. I touched on this the other day:

I don't know how much those components would be if purchased separately, but here, the SP purchaser definitely receives far less than on previous models. Aside from the 'bling factor' the SP doesn't do it for me price-wise. It might though, retain its value just a tad better.

Edited to say: I truly hope Honda UK monitor this forum.

I would think that the ohlins suspension is a fair expense in itself and then to integrate it with the electronics.....was it not just the same gap with the 2017 blade and SP.....similar differences. Both bikes are way overpriced for sure.

The "rear only ohlins" on my 1299s was replaced under warranty for £1600 parts only, but it was a ohlins full of beautifulness as are all parts on a ducati:D:p

Forged wheels, different paint scheme would be required by me to purchase one I'm afraid. Don't get me wrong it's a great bike, I know i've had issue with Ducati, but V4s £2k more or £3k for a V4s Corse both more desirable, or a R1M for £1.5k less and all that carbon, BMW msport over £3k less not to mention Aprillia RSV4RFat around £17k..

For me Honda have fucked up

I heard Honda are borrowing Apple's marketing team and it's going to be called the iBlade at launch.

Millennials the world over will sell their Audi A3's and Merc A class' to buy two, one for themselves and one for their gender neutral partners. They will then sit in vegan cafés taking about all the great new features.

Maybe they could have a usb socket on the dash where they could plug in their iOS device and enable Apple Bikeplay.

In 2014 I had and accident on my SP in which one of the fork leg outer tubing got scratched. No separate part available from Honda just the whole fork assembly. wait for it, 2 grand for just the one which was the manually adjusted type from which the insurance company were going to write the bike off (With other repairs). However spoke to Ohlins UK and they could replace the outer section including VAT for £350, but part had to come for Japan because it was made by Honda under licence from Ohlins.

    Cheers, Ritchie.
Now THAT might be of interest to many!

Ohlins made by Honda under licence? On that basis, Honda is making a massive killing on retained profit, because manufacturing their 'Ohlins' product would not be much dearer than manufacturing their own 'Showa' product. Both require the same tooling and componentry, although we can assume the structure of the 'Ohlins' will be of higher quality and better materials. Nevertheless, we are not talking thousands of pounds difference as we're discussing in this 2020 machine.

Taking this further, can we presume that all manufacturers using Ohlins are making them within their own factories under licence?

Did wonder if Honda had a special arrangement with Ohlins. IIRC Suzuki did something similar with Brembo and the Suzuki caliper had smaller diameter pistons and as a result weren't as good as the real Brembos.

Was that the case with the 2017 GSXR ?
Would explain why the brakes were crap on that bike

Didnt Honda do the same with the 'm4' calipers on the 12/13/14/15/16 year SP with smaller pistons compared to the ones you buy from brembo. They are all doing it.
