Yes they are a banking evil, designed to lure people in like quicksand, only to sink you into a pile of debt thats almost impossible to pay off. Run by Interest killing blood sucking brace wearing yuppies . Not that much morally better than money day lenders. They prey on an easy targets and feed them more and more debt and then once they are up to their necks they have the hard nosed cheek to lecture them on how to manage your debt, by then too late. They should be rules to stop them lending the way that they do. I know one can take the stance that its a lack of control, but most people who say that don't need debt. What i don't understand is why they can keep increasing credit limits when borrowers have not paid of the existing debt, i know the answer why.... thats the immoral bit. Can you tell i hate credit cards and the lack of moral principles that drive them. Useful if used correctly deadly if not.....
Is this the right place to say that the new Africa Twin (the basic one) looks ace.........hmmmm No, thought not
Agreed, make the most of things while you can - people dropping like flies out there ! And no, not old yet Seriously a sport bike is not really that practical as an only means of transport - although it mostly works for me. Maybe I should get one of those things that attracts parking tickets like flies round poo - a car ! Liking the idea of a rugged bike as an everyday year-round bike that can be left out in the rain occasionally and do "adventures"
I've had quite a few, few too many to mention but i did it my waaaaaaaaaay. Sorry absolutely silly of me, must be sitting in traffic in a cage getting to me. On the whole the AT is a great bike and they sound brilliant stock, especially post 18 onwards. Early ones build quality suspect, has gotten better but not top drawer and somehow they started of at £10,400 and now the fancy all dancing AT is 16 grand+ the world has gone mad, especially once bikes hit the 14+ grand bracket. God we had it good for a while and never truly appreciated it. I remember buying a brand new 2006 Wheel barrow exhaust ZX10R for 8 grand, 8 bloody grand, my fairing for my Thruxton costs nearly that ok not quite but you get the jest.....
I see how you did that Mr Honda '64, the "my way" and all - very good Interesting information there. I think I had better start an Africa Twin thread and not spoil their new Fireblade discussion ....... Off to get some pictures from off of the web
If you try one you will buy one, quite an aural intoxicating experience. Nothing wrong with throwing a different slant into any conversation. It’s just like being in the pub, talking about lovely bikes.
My ex has just bought the new ATAS having had a 2018 one and prior to that, the standard AT when it first came out. He says the new one is a big improvement, more grunt ( which was needed) feels lighter and just sweetened out all round. He's had the dct on all 3 which he loves...I don't but that's just a personal preference. If you go to test ride try both versions.
I pass from DCT to standard , 10 kilos less , more opportunities to tune it (19-17 wheels from rally raid)
My wife works for a UK company called Payplan, on the Portuguese offices, that deals with debts on behalf of people that owe money and try to make a "deal" with creditors so people can pay what they owe in amounts they can afford monthly. From the stories she tells me the general idea I get is that most people don't have a clue how credit works. I was lucky in my life and never had to resort to credit, and each day I'm thankfull for that. I did had one credit card a long time ago because I was young naive and signed a paper I shouldn't have, but that was because someone lied to me. Nothing that a threat of a lawsuit wouldn't fix. You're absolutely right, it's the same in Portugal and no one does anything, because there's a lot of people making "easy money" on this. It's up to each one of us to do the right choices.
I’m sorry, but i have to disagree. Credit cards provide a useful service and if used correctly are a god send when purchasing goods both over the counter or online. It’s unfair to say they are a bad thing - paid in full at the end of the month you’ve all the benefits and none of the aggravation. The issue is simply that there are too many stupid people with credit cards. Don’t get me wrong I’m no lover of, or anything to do with the banking/credit industry and yes they should have a responsibility to not provide cards to those individuals etc. However, in their defence, there are also plenty of people with good incomes who still don’t have the self control to not get into all kinds of hassle.
@Honda1964 said it best. Useful if used correctly. I buy stuff online and overseas all the time, and don't have a credit card.
I’m sure your wife will know this already (and maybe its the same in Portugal), but if you purchase or even part purchase an item using a credit card there are protections for you. So, say there’s a problem with your purchase that the retailer refuses to deal with satisfactorily, you then have a right to claim against the credit card company.
I realise I'm late to the party here but I really like the new blade. I'm so glad it wider than previous year. Excuse my exhausted face, I was working here and had little sleep!
Without test riding? Flip!! What model did you go for? The NEC was mental. I'm so glad I was working and was able to wander round before it opened to the public
Sorry if I seem shallow please take it complimentary (I am a very happily married Man). You are a fit bird. Great choice and enjoy if you get one. The only people who could afford a new blade in my opinion are very rich people or people who visit food banks.
