That because is there is no knock sensor system on the SC77 at all.
Many bikes do have knock sensors, but the SC77 doesn't.
They don't avoid detonation, they just accept it and tell customers some low RPM pinging is normal if you lug the motor or use low quality fuel.

In all probability the SC82 doesn't have knock sensors

Went to the Ducati dealers yesterday and I have a week off mid Feb going to ride V2 then V4s back to back.....by far the v4s looks a great pce of kit the new blade for me does nothing ...also riding position spot on even to the point that the salesman said I will be on tip toe as a tall seat height and the side stand is a pain in the arse to get down but that deep red paintwork I could be going Italian again.....just look the dogs ...plus all that mid range grunt not that you need it the average road rider uses 27bhp availiable on a normal one hour ride....

V4S is 1.1l which makes it unusable in races

That's what the V4R is for - to use in the races.

Its actually a brilliant move by Ducati - it means they get to play int he 200+bhp arena, but with a less stressed and radical engine that still delivers the good, they can be as use all the best features of the V4R and forget the super race orientated ones.

And keep the price reasonable as they have a V4 and a V4S.

Honda seem to have missed the entire point of a homologated model - I said 3 years ago the base and SP shoudl have been milder tuned 1100cc bikes and the SP2 a insanely tuned 1000cc.

Best of all the worlds, power stays consistant across the range but the more street version is less stressed and less stressful.

The side stand is an art to use, sometimes it just happens and you get off with smugness, other times your left looking like a dog scratching fleas with the continuous up down lower leg movement trying to find something you know is there but cant fucking find it and look a total knob on bike night ..

Seat height was spot on for me being 5'8 ½ and fat-ish on the softest suspension settings, but seat was narrower on the 1299 :D

    What about it?
It is 40,000 Euros per the WSBK pricing rule for maximum price of the homologation model?

Not sure what your point is.

    Useless as what?

Its intended use is as an open class street bike with huge HP and a decent list of features that allows for fast track work on the side.

This is how a plain jane V4 with a slip behaves vs a tuned SP2. Sadly my SP2 didn't stand a chance.

Looks like it does exactly what Ducati intended it to do - be a monstrously fast street bike.

I am still convinced Honda made a mistake to not just give the base/SP CBR1000RRs 1098cc and let it be the hot rod street bike. Leaving an even more expensive 999cc high strung SP2 for the ultimate race platform.
