You're doing a fine job there fella. That exhaust sounds the business too. ;)

Mine is currently in bits at the moment as I race to get it back together ready for the spring. Fitting a rad guard, fitted street hooks and removed rear pegs, and giving it an oil service and replacing the air filter while I'm at it. Then it's off for it's ABS bleed before the MOT in April. Hopefully then it'll be sorted for another year :)

Yeah, my only bike, I'm offshore now for 2 weeks so by the time I get back it'll all be ready to reassemble. I then have the whole summer to ride.

Cheers Mm. I enjoy this part of the ownership almost as much as the riding.
    You have a build thread?

Excellent right up Exuptoy. Been bored shoiteless over past winters so at the end of this year I think I'll do a strip down etc, my 5 year old bike probably could do with it.
any pics of the wheels yet?

Right, I managed to get a bit of time today to pick up my stuff. The pics are below. It is really hard to get a good photo of the wheel colour but you can see the amount of flake in the finish. They're stunning. The hangers and footrests are awesome too. Hopefully I'll get a little time tomorrow to fit it all. Tyres are on etc but just need to fit the bearings now and I can refit them.

There is some dust etc on the wheels but they've not had a coat of polish to protect them yet.

You can see the flake in the pic below, along with a blatant plug for Tony at Perfectadent. I'm sure he could do stuff by post if needs be but for locals in South Wales he's worth a visit. His work is exceptional, everything is dipped and stripped before blasting to key the surface then minor fettling before powder coating. He's not a fly by night guy and you just know that his work is going to be good for years, He's very reasonable too.

Cheers mate. TBH the finish is very subtle but when the sun hits the bike on a bright day it'll pop!

Got up the garage at 7 this morning, had a bit of time out to do some other stuff for 2 hours then left the garage around 6 this evening. I got loads done and all that is left is to give the front callipers a bit of a service tomorrow then it's finished.

Making a start, I refitted the bearings and seals then gave the wheels their first coat of Autoglym wheel cream to give them some protection, but when I went to fit the discs, all the mounting bolts were looking like this:

Sticking them in the battery drill and shining up with some 400 grit W&D then a quick spin inside a rag with a little Solvol saw them looking like this:

Next up I couldn't fit the rear wheel without making sure the shock was spot on. I gave the top of it a quick once over with 400 W&D before masking it all up and giving it a lick of etch primer then some satin black. Much better!

Next I turned my attention to the R&G tail tidy. and new 7x5 plate.

Next up was the powder coated footrest stuff and exhaust.

Then fitted the powerbronze chain guard.

I really need to get a full set of braided lines to finish things off.

The wheels look loads better when they're on the bike and can be seen against the black - Its alot clearer to see they are grey. Good work mate

TBH it's subtle enough to be almost standard but it's not black.

I took off the caliper this morning and once the pads were removed the pistons looked like this:

A little brake cleaner a and a toothbrush saw them look a little like this:

I smeared a little Castrol red rubber grease around the pistons like so:

Then pushed them all back. This has a tendency to move the other pistons back out a little and spreads the grease around the seals so make sure none of them pop out of their housings (one of mine did a little but I caught it before it came right out, but it went back in, then it needed a little bleeding as there would have been air in the caliper which can compress, and sure enough the lever went a little spongey).
Next the pads were cleaned and the edges dressed lightly as they are meant to slide inside the caliper, I also put a thin smear along the vertical edge of the pad but not too much.

Once the pads were back in, the caliper was bolted back up following a wipe down with ACF50 and a rag. The lever was then pumped to get the pads against the disc.
I found the easiest way to bleed off a little air is to open the master cylinder pot then place a large syringe on the bleed nipple with a long length of clear hose then pull through some fluid until all bubbles are gone.
You could reverse bleed it if doing a fluid change out with the syringe but I only needed to pull off a little air. Topped off the pot and it's done!

That was it. Everything was torqued up and it was time for a shake down.

I have to admit the Arrow is VERY fruity and WAY too illegal! Ear plugs are a must!!

I had the arse end slide out when leant right over which had my arse twitching but I think it it's down to the edge of the tire having some tyre dressing still on there since I bought it.
Also the idle is slightly high at around 1500-1800 but I think thats more to do with the Arrow. Can you drop the idle on these?

When I got back there was some traces of salt and grit other so its had its first wash and brush up.

I'm really pleased with this bike. :)

Now your just showing off lol, Its amazing what a little elbow grease (and product) can do. Bike looks as good as new fella.
The footrests look even better on the bike so I will be copying.
I blew the cobwebs off mine (and me) the other day, you forget how good the blade is. Here's me contemplating a 6675R (other thread), doh!

Cheers dude. ;) You just copy away mate. The guy that does my powdercoat (Tony Sharp, Perfectadent, Bridgend) is brilliant and he doesn't cut corners. Even down to the gear lever and splined bit which goes on the gearbox shaft have been prepared and painted to match the powder coat as the rubber boots on them would melt in the oven.

I know I couldn't go back to anything less than a litre bike these days. I just love the torque on these things. :)

    Cheers fella.

Yeah, hopefully my Sato's will be here on Monday or Tuesday. I'll sort mine at some point but not in any rush as I don't want to be stripping the arse end down again! :)

I've agreed to buy a Bazzaz too, really not looking forward to fitting it! :)
