So, owned the bike two weeks now. Initial reactions... I don't get the shunting everyone talks about. It's very smooth at commuter speeds through town. I can see why some people think values are dull though, they deliver power in a very non-dramatic way. From testing all the other big bikes available to buy now it's obvious they have been set up to feel fast on purpose, delivering power in a certain way. The blade is very different, I keep wondering where the power is then see I'm on the naughty side of very naughty. And I don't know how. I had a chance to really open her up recently for the first time and oh wow you get to silly speeds very quickly. But again it's just kind of happening, smoothly, with no fuss. It feels like it's on rails, it's the easiest bike to ride I've ever owned. But my back brake is totally useless. I could stand all my weight on it and it'd do nothing. Need to look at that. Had new oil, filter, general check over done on it today and the guys said it was fine. But I'm tiny, and they are all quite fat.
Funny how certain elements of these bikes seem have different operating tolerances than others. My 2014 rear brake works, and works to the point where you can bring the back to a halt from 20/30 mph, no real dramatic lock up the rear wheel, but it stops the bike, not that its your primary method to stop with, and is the usual boon when filtering and making tight manoeuvres to allow feet up all the time. Glad your bike don't shunt as well, that was such a pain, although I can see I should have invested some time as Mr OCD has done in remapping it as he seems to have a decent setting now.
I would rather not be locking my back brake up,it's only meant to act as a trailing brake, look at aftermarket calipers what racers use you will never lock those up no matter how hard u try
I'm sure if rear brakes were made much better, there would then be a deluge of complaints that they locked up too easy and brought the back wheel round!
2010. I like to have some back brake, but this thing has none. I didn't have a chance to see why today. I only use it to trail brake and give me some control in the corners. All my other bikes I've been able to lock up the rear no problem. And for me I'd prefer it this way, I trust my ability to not fuck up.
RRA? ... With the updated crank? Strange yours doesn't shunt rolling on / off throttle ... My rear brake works fine ... Is it adjusted properly? I thought mine was bad but adjusted the lever and it's been fine since. No worse than my old R1 and I use it all the time.
I thought the 2010 was the RRA? Poor thing is filthy now, but covered in gallons of ACF50 so hoping it'll be ok.
