The bolts are not stretch bolts, stretch bolts have a form on the shank of the bolt that you can see clearly.

iMO these are designed as stretch bolts so that the threads stretch and make full contact with the fork threads hence the hole down the middle for this reason. Honda recommend these bolts are replaced each time removed as they are stressed every time you tighten. How long they last you pays your money! All pro race bikes will change them for this and weight savings.

are you serious, you've actually binned 3 sts of caliper bolts just because you have removed your calipers?.

I've had days on track where my calipers have been off 3 or 4 times, jesus, the bolt bill would be higher than my tyre bill!!!

so yes,you are being overly cautious :)

I haven't thrown them away - but yes you are correct, I have used a new set each time I've removed...

Like I said - brakes and safety. For the sake of £20, I'd rather know that my life is in a slightly better place. However, if so many of you re-use yours, then thats my cue to throw caution to the wind and re-use mine too! :)

I've never heard of 1 single bike failing due to the stretch bolts on the calipers,so your quite safe ;)

As Scooby said IMO, if indeed they are stretch bolts they wouldn't come out easily with fingers after initial loosening :)
