Oooooo am liking this idea. I have even thought of selling my plus to try and fund the new ss. But if you can just buy the electronics and not have to strip it all down is even more tempting. I don't live far from them may give them a visit next week??
Yes all the shifters run the same sub loom, so as long as your installer made it easy to get to the connector and the earth then they just plug and play, the SS is an "upgrade" over the plus and the GP is another level again, imo the SS is best value for money and is much slicker than the Plus only model. Once you ride with the SS you'll see the Plus is great but the SS is slicker more of the time.
We'll as my installer, I'm pretty sure you made the connector and earth easy to get to didn't you Arthur?
And after reading some of you r very useful posts aurtherbikemad I did make it nice and easy to access when I put it onto my bike the beginning of the week. Am well tempted now!
More than welcome to pop in Spud to take a look or just have a chat if you like. Then give Arthur a shout and purchase it
Hi Art a quick question slightly of topic but I have a GiPro gear indicator fitted it plugged into a red 4-pole male diagnostic connector under my seat at the fuse box! Is this the same connector for the HM QS? Cheers Trev
Hi Trev, no the diag port is for just that diagnostics, the GI pro uses the port to get data for the gear position display. HM Quickshifters have a small loom that connects to each plug top coil pack, at the end of this loom is a small connector that has two wires, it's this connector that connects to the Quickshifter loom, one other wire is used on the shifter side as an earth and is bolted to the frame or a similar place for an earth, for example one of the starter motor mounting bolts could be used. The sub loom as I call it that connects to the coils is not very long and normally runs down the left side of the bike, some installers tend to hide it in a place where it's hard to get, this is a bad move as should you need to access it you could end up having to remove a large amount of the bike to get to it, I have had them in the past where the connector has been placed under the air box, not a good idea! This is the shifter side of the loom, shows the plug and earth.
Fitted the super light yesterday pretty simple really just as if you changing the plugs haven't had time to road test it yet but did test up the rear paddock stand and came out if the garage with a massive smile on my face as said not bought it for track use just a bit fun on the roads will let you no when I've done a road test. Would like to say a big thank you to arthurbikemad top man
Thanks for this thread guys, i've bought an '09 HRC Blade and having had QS's on 3 of my previous bikes i am keen to have one on this bike, a very helpful thread! Now to find a 2nd hand one if i can...
Ok Firstly this my first ever quick shifter can't believe I didn't buy one years ago. My first proper blast with hm super lite was Saturday and can honestly say I still haven't stopped smiling as already said really easy to install took a good hour to get my head round not throttling off going up through the box but man this thing is bloody awesome haven't changed the sensitivity on it as works fine straight out the box gear changes are super smooth and I actually found myself deliberately slowing down just so I could go up through the box again ( I know I'm like a big kid on Xmas day). Must take my hat of to hm as this is there entry level shifter it is well worth the money if like me you only use the bike on the road it is more of a fun thing than trying to get your lap times down but sure it help anybody on the track as well. It's that good my mate who has gixer tried my bike and bought one the same day. A very happy chap Many thanks HM and the main man arthurbikemad
Thanks for the thank you but truly the thanks is from me to you, if that makes any sense haha, super glad your happy and just like you I often slow up just to fly off up the box again, I prob should be over it now after three or so years....lol
Tbh I think we all race up through the box then slow down and repeat the process a lot of times while we are out lots of smiles per miles
