The Gundog Club i found the trainer through here... and this guy Maidstone Gundog Trainer runs the local puppy training and adult training, not far from me wanted to get her more specific training ther than a generic puppy school. that way hopefully they will help train her (and me) to her specific needs etc. spoke to him last night, seems a top fella and giving me some great tips as i'm new to it all also... in regards to working we shall see, hopefully yeah, know a few folk that shoot so picking up and flushing etc, also some of the farmers etc down mum's pub keep inviting me out on shoots, might be a good change to get involved a bit more, done some rough shooting / clays before and really like it... have to see. just want to make sure she gets the best start so that we can get the most out of her tbh. any advice would be appreciated!
Gun dog training is probably one of the best form of training for your breed. It is great to see gun dogs training/working ,it is so much fun for the dog too.A well trained dog is always a pleasure to have.I'm sure the trainer James will do wonders for the pair of you. If you can Jimbo get her near guns, introduce her to the noise as a pup so she gets accustomed to it.Probably nearest to you is Robin hood shoot just up the road from you.Take her for a walk around the shoot its free and not a bad walk either. The reason I say this is, if she gets used to the noise she will think this is normal. This can also help calm her when fireworks etc go off. Then she won't be gun-shy if you do decide to try working her.Should be fun
You should have a word with Dirty Dave and Chicken mate, they work their labs at shoots often and sure they would be happy for you to tag along.
