There seems to be some suggestion that these Nexx Carbon lids are not road legal in the UK..................be careful guys its your head
I read that on Gixerjunkies, if it's true then it's a no-no, pity, but as previously mentioned, safet first. Going to check this out further. JD
well if you look at pictures of them there are no BS or ACU stickers, its been suggested on another forum they may not be legal after somebody looked them up after another member had purchased one. Yeah thats where i just read it JD
Beat me to it villan....would be interested to hear where from? But thanks for the heads up slowrider. No pun intended
CARBON SPEED NEXX HELMETS It has the EEC standard ECE/22-05 making it legal for use in the UK. By law, you must wear a safety helmet when riding a motorcycle on the road. All helmets sold in the UK must either * comply with British Standard BS 6658:1985 and carry the BSI kitemark or * comply with UNECE Regulation 22.05 or * comply with any standard accepted by a member of the European Economic Area which offers a level of safety and protection equivalent to BS 6658:1985 and carry a mark equivalent to the BSI kitemark
Does it have the kite mark though mate? As that is what they check (or say they will check) on td's and race meets. Not that that means much, just wondering!
No kite mark but it has an unece 22.05 standard mark. I have never had a lid checked on trackday anyway. And im confident that it will protect my bonce if needed
Trackday organisers normally say they should have a ACU gold sticker which this lid hasn't got. In all the trackdays I've done I've never had my helmet checked. The standards it has passed means it would almost certainly get a gold sticker if they put it forward for testing but that costs a lot. I'd wear one if it fiited well.
Okay, I'll admit, I did look at the leather one. But only cos it just looked like a matt black one in the thumbnail. Honest.
Never had one checked either, just a little benchmark for me thats all, the racing / motorsport world approve it, then it's good enough for me... Not downgrading the lid, sure it's fine, but interested that's all
For starters I have no interest to what ma mates are up to behind me when out and about, seriously reckon would be nerve wrecking, you imagine going hrough town and a hott bit of kit walks behing you..... NO good..... U can stick the rear view helmet
Hi, it's Matt from ForMotorbikes here, from where Dave bought his Nexx XR1R Carbon. Dave asked me to clarify the situation regarding the Nexx XR1R Carbon's certification. The Nexx XR1R and XR1R Carbon are ECE 22/05 certified for road use in the UK (and Europe). This is the official standard for safety in the UK/Europe. They are also DOT certified for road use in the USA and Canada, and NBR 7471 approved for road use elsewhere. I am personally putting the application in for the XR1R and XR1R Carbon to gain ACU approval, for track use. I would predict that we'll secure this in the next couple of months. Not wanting to break any commercial rules on the forum, I'll leave you to glean further information at ForMotorbikes.com All the best Matt Reply With Quote That was the reply on Gixerjunkies from the chap who sells these in the UK
