it's the m/c not the calipers, and not due to spongey feel, but because there could be an issue (could, not is) to the finish on the inside of the bore on the m/c. mr honda should take note......
Try sbs dual carbon pads, I have these with hel lines, no issues. Would say that they ain't great until warm, but once warm awesome.
Yes they are Dave, I have the Brembo pads on my ZX, but they're not the issue or the solution to this topic.
have some dunlop pads to fit, was the local race supply shop sold me them and said they will refund me if I am not happy with them. so I thought why not, just have a lot going at the min so the bike hasnt come out from under its bike sheet for the last two weeks.
Sorry Dave, didn't read the thread Title properly, assumed it was yet another winge on the Honda C-ABS problem! Disagree on the Brembo Carbon Ceramic pads though, they've been outstanding on my Track Bike, as you say once warmed up.
IMO the brake pads would be the first important link to helping reduce brake fade or what ever you want to call it. If the pads, or more importantly the surface to which they are attached themselves can slow the heat which is produced from the discs? This will then in turn slow the heat transfer to the pistons and the fluid. The higher the quality the pads, the better they are at holding back the thermal heat produced, and the quicker they cool so the cycle can start again. For example. Metal based pads will quickly transfer the heat, porcalin based pads will be slower. Upshot is. Again my opinion, if the pads transfer the heat too quickly? The quicker it will start to cook the fluids. It's a fine balance for manufacturers to try and build the perfect pads that will retain enough heat to stay effective but reduce drastic heat transfer through the pad which enevitably leads to the "boiling" of the fluids through the calipers rendering them next to useless. The slower the heat transfer. The slower the fade. Everything cookies eventually, we just need to find a way to slow the process down. To end, my input whether right or wrong Only once we begin to understand latent heat in metals will we as individuals begin to understand how the braking system affects us and what we can do to avoid it.
Possibly the reason why Suzuki have signed a 3 year deal with brembo! My mate has brembo as standard on his latest gixer
i know you didn't,but as you never stated what was causing the issue,or what the recall was for,i thought i'd shed some light and give specifics instead of a general statement.
I think it's Nissin MC with Tociko caliper. Also, my comment was exaggerated - the MC is not crap, the brakes are plenty powerful, but I just hate the way it feels (ratio).
Sorry buddy didn't see this reply. I am so chuffed with my brakes now having suffered severely with brake fade on track days before Motorcycle Braided Brake Hoses, Lines and Clutch Cables | Venhill - Website for Venhill braided lines. All the reviews rate them HEL and Goodridge all on par for decent quality gear
I think my problem is running brembos the last Three years then going to these. But definite drop In power if you are out for a good blast, well on mine Anyway... And the rear, may as well jam my foot in The back wheel, probably stop me faster lol.
