Thursday we head out of Viehla & start to head off towards Broto where we decided to put up “posh Camp” again for the night. Trying to add a little variety we take in a few new to us roads. #28 #29 Danger mouse #30 Fantastic surface & bends #31 #32 #33 Back on the road & Jase is really buzzing to get this swim over with. After coming through a fantastic set of bends this comes into view to our right, Jase takes the lead & takes us to lake side. #34 4 Reggie Perrins later #35
And we’re in and getting wet. #36 #37 #38 After around half an hour one of those you had to be there to understand moments happened, but please I’ll try to give a little insight. Now I’m not a confident swimmer so I used my time up taking photographs & Gopro for the trip splashing around the edges. Enter Guardia Civil truck, He’s out & moving peeps on, I get a crafty shot of him doing so, what we hadn’t taken into consideration was the land we was staying on actually belonged to a hotel 100 meters away, he drives down get out and is greeted by myself with a smile & nothing more than skimpy boxers & white motorcycle boots “I’m surprised he did not shoot me there and then!” Got the gist of what he said & what he wanted us to do, Vamoose Or Fu#k Off either way it translated the same way, he then asked to see the photographs I’d taken and requested I deleted them, for safety/security of the ones I’d taken of him and his car, now he’s a 9mm & mine sticking out of my pants was getting the same size, & he pointed to the Gopro which was facing out to the lake capturing the 3 amigos gooning around behind my back, he was satisfied when I told him it was off, got into his jeep and disappeared out of my life. The guys may I say & myself thought I’d missed a good selfie opportunity with him, but having a bullet drilled into my arse would perhaps in hind sight not been worth it, as said, it was had to be there moment really Moving on. Stopped in true tradition after our swim 5 miles down the road for some food then continued to our destination Broto. Friday. We left Broto behind and headed off for a night out in San Sebastien, no pictures of the ride through but got some video footage kicking around somewhere Fine dining San Sebastien style. And at just over £100 for a few Tapas it had better have been Friday night #39
He wouldn't have shot you in the arse. A fine virgin sheriff's badge like yours is good currency in any Spanish jail.
Saturday Leaving a great night behind in San Sebastien we’re now heading for the Picos de Europa, I pretty non-descript route but some roads we had done before, rather than shifting through masses of town and villages we did near 100km on dual carriageway before turning off and getting a mix of fast road and bouncy wish we hadn’t bothered But it was a means to an end & we got there “kind of better than British rail” San Sebastien digs #40 Wind farm near the Ebro #41 #42 Arriving in Potes Saturday afternoon, and the party is in full swing, we’re getting desperate for accommodation but not panicked & ended up spending a night in a hostel for one night, we headed off to our preferred hotel and managed to book our remaining three nights with them then hit the town with the locals on what was a very eventful 3 days in the town “video to follow” The upshot, and there is always one of those, & without peeps thinking I’m just rushing to hit this to the boundary, we spent the rest of our holiday around the Picos, four nights in total before hitting back towards the boat at Santander. A few photos of our time. Watching MotoGP here with the locals on Sunday. #43 Riano #44
The Stag N-621 #45 Twisties galore #46 #47 #48 The view from the hotel whilst taking a dump #49 Steve never really did gel with the Scala #50
So Tuesday we left Potes behind a little before lunch & headed for the ferry, trips over? Almost, a total random destination saw us doing what for us touring is all about? 40km off the boat and 5 hours to kill, we decide to hit the seaside. & what a stunning place to do it. #55 #56 Probably the best meal of the holiday? #57 #58 Our worldly belongings fending for themselves #59 Jaws #60 Collision in the surf, Craig takes one for the team #61 And………. I’m out, well still a few non-descript but going for video gold now Thanks for looking at my side, another fabulous experience, and you know, I hear October is a very nice time of the year around those parts too Watch this space.
Cracking video Gary - the short clips and mixture of front / rear plus off bike footage works really well - Can't wait for the next installment! Have you got maps of your route this year?
Cheers for the feedback Al, not put the routes in as yet. The clip was more of an insight for the forum trying to keep it short and upbeat. I will however add it to the DVD's which should be available by the end of September. 2015
Nice read and pics Disappointed in the behaviour at the Stag though. Didn't they have any traffic cones nearby
