another +1 on the route plan please Gaz helps to concentrate on the road instead of where the guy in front is going .. and any other unexpected detours ..lol .. ( hey barney wot ya think of the new avitar .. )
This is going to be a big ole ride for me,i can do 250 miles in a day. This ones a little bit longer than i'm used to,so the weather is going to have to be good.I wont be able to cope with crap weather and 320 ish miles. I was so envious of the Wales pictures,I'm want my photo taken by Barney, otherwise i'm going to sulk for at least a week, if not longer.
Really looking forward to meeting up you guys as i could n,t make the last one, hope the roads are dry. Boro Rich, you wanna convoy up to Hawes?
Northern Run Part 2 Ok, here goes, probably way over the top for most? But not everyone knows the route, so I'll give an in depth account so you can have a closer look.* Of course ive only put the pictures in. Just for a quick reference, I'm certainly not expecting them to be printed off. Perhaps Copy and paste the turnings though? Could be handy?? Lessons learnt from the first run, there is no point in coming off the motorway*meeting at the A6 then getting back on so we shall meet here.* Pic 1 Forton Services M6.* Leaving the services we can then travel to J33. * Pic 2 * As you come off the slip road keeping in the left hand lane. take the first exit onto the A6 Pic3 Take the Second left turn SP Dolphineholme/Abbystead/Trough of Bowland.* Pic 4 Take the next left SP Caton Go under the railway bridge and take the next left Pic 5 Continue on this road, you have 2 cross roads to go straight on at. Both are Stops.* Pass through Quernmore Village, at the next T junction turn Right, SP *A683 Caton.* Pic 6 After the right turn continue towards Caton, follow the road to the next T junction and turn Right! Pic 7 Continuing through Caton over mini roundabout "second exit" *After leaving Caton village *aprox 1mile Caton lay-by on the right. Regroup here.* Pic 8
After regroup and perhaps a brew, turning right out of Caton Layby continue on the A683 no turn offs until A687.* Turn right here onto A687 Pic 9 Continue A687 until T junction.* At T junction turn right onto A65 SP Ingleton Pic 10 Continue A65 into Ingleton.* Over the iron bridge and take the second left onto the B6255 SP white scar caves.* Pic 11 Continue B6255, you will pass the caves on your right, continue to the RibbleHead viaduct.* As you go over the cattle grid pull up near the junction for a regroup.* Pic 12 Continue on the B6255 towards Hawes, 11 miles of fast flowing roads await.* "watch out for that hidden dip that has you airborne" When in Hawes at T junction turn right.* Pic 13 This is the area we shall be meeting? Pic 14 Pic 15 After meeting up with the other guys and girls, I'm sure some will be ready for some fuel? Fuel here? Pic 16
Turning left out of fuel station continue round to the right on the A684 Pic 17 Continue the A684 towards Sedburgh. On entering Sedburgh at TJunction turn Right onto A683 SP Kirby Stephen. Pic 18* When turned right a good idea to regroup? After regrouping continue A683 towards Kirby Stephen. At this T junction, turn right onto the A685 SP Kirby Stephen.* Pic 19 Ride through Kirby Steven continuing on the A685 no turn offs.* Go under the A66 NOT on it! Turn Right here onto the B6276 Pic 20 Continue round to the left here SP B6276 Middleton in Teesdale* Pic 21 Have fun over here, quite a few bits to catch you out.* Continue until you get to here, *keeping left onto the B6277 towards Alston * Pic 22 Enter Middleton in Teesdale and turn left.* Pic 23 As you leave The town keep round to the left here! Pic 24 Continue towards Alston on the B6277.* Pic 25 See this? Your in Alston.* *Go down steep cobbled road to the T junction and turn left onto the A686 Pic 26 Before leaving Alston there is a fuel station on the right.* A good idea to grab some more fuel and regroup? Continue on the A686 to Alston Cafe.* A quick section of road, as you get to the top, look for telegraph poles and get ready to turn left into cafe forecourt.* Be careful. Loose stone.
Pic 27 I'm only guessing but perhaps this is where some peeps will split and go their separate ways?? After Cafe stop we turn left onto the A686 down hill edition with some very trick hairpins. Continue A686 with no turn offs to Penrith.* At roundabout take the second exit *onto the A6 SP Shap.* Pic 28 Continue A6 to Kendal. A very fast section of road should you have the urge? Enter Kendal there is a fuel station on the right.* Refuel and regroup here.* Pic 29 Turning right out of the garage onto the A6 after 1/2 mile turn Left here SP A685 Appleby.* Pic 30 As soon as you have turned look for next right turning into SandyLands Road.* This is a residential street with sleeping policemen. Pic 31 * Once on SandyLands Road Do not turn off! It's a cut through which avoids Kendal's town Center.* At the T Junction turn left onto the A684.* Pic 32 continue A684 towards Sedburgh.* Again another nice section of road Turn right here onto the B6256 Pic 33 *continue on the B6256 to this T junction and turn right onto the A683.* Pic 34
Continue on the A683 this will bring you to Kirby Lonsdale/Devils Bridge which comes up on your right.* Regroup here.* Pic 35 I'm guessing there will be another split of riders here? From devils bridge go to T junction and turn right onto the A65 Pic 36 Leaving Kirby Lonsdale take the first left turn onto the the B6254. SP Whittington.* Pic 37 Continue the B6254, as you pass the Redwell Inn There is a Left fork. Take this onto Kirby Lonsdale Road Pic 38 Continue along Kirby Lonsdale road, there is a left turn "unclassified Road " onto Green Lane. *Narrow road only *about a mile long.* Pic 39 At the end of Green Lane turn left on to Low Road* Pic 40* Follow low road, this will bring you to the A683 at Caton. At the T junction.* Turn Left.* Pic 41 The next right will put you back onto the Quernmore Road. Where hopefully you will all know where you are for heading back to the A6? Pic 42* That should be enough for a blind person. Sorry for those that know the route/area it's way over board. But it will give the ones who haven't travelled these parts an idea.* Don't worry, I'll be somewhere at the back, so if anyone is unsure of a turning just wait at the side of the road, I'll be along in half an hour
