Standard size or no plate at all. Anything in between is pointless?

I agree. It's too easy a law to police and ends up just baiting the BIBs.

Don't see what all the fuss is about, what's wrong with a standard plate, it's shows you have got nothing to hide ? small plate is like a red rag to a bull your asking for a pull.

A few years ago, went for a run one Sunday early in the season. Got pulled by a couple of bike cops and received a £30 fine for small plate. Promptly forgot all about it and the following Sunday got pulled by the same two cops in exactly the same place. Memory like a goldfish the wife reckons! Anyway another £30 down.

Fast forward another week and you guessed it, same two cops, same place. The look on their faces was priceless. Lol

Anyway they didn't book me the third time but left me in no doubt that they thought I was a complete dick! Lol

I was so embarrassed that not only did I swap the plate, I even washed ma bike.

7 by 5 but they took more exception to the 3D carbon lettering apparently.

I have the standard one. On the ride back from the West Country where I bought the bike the numberplate fell off somewhere. On the last run to the continent one of the other lads was so worried about how much it was shaking about (standard plate hanger/caravan towing accessory) that he tightened it up for me at one of the overnight stops!

So, while I'm off the bike it's having an R+G tail tidy and a 7 x 5.5 plate with normal lettering. I'll be interested to know if it will stop so much muck getting flung onto the back seat in the wet.

I also wonder if it will cause less turbulence as the standard set-up looks like I'm dragging a small sail around.
