Cheers Exfire ! Put a pic of your bike up so i can have a looksy mate ! I know I'm going to have to address discs and the front forks next ! What did you did you do with your front end ?
I had all the internals replaced in the front forks with MCT products my local suspension specialist. I ride on very narrow, very bumpy roads and needed a fast acting valve which they had. This was fitted with a longer weight matched spring and filled with a lighter oil than usual to enable easier movement through the pistons/valves.They then did a full set up again. I had a test ride and it was great. After about 6 months though when I had the rear Ohlins serviced I asked them if they could improve the amount of travel as I was finding I was braking harder and getting more dive than I wanted. They resolved this by adding some extra oil and the suspension is now just right for me. I have learned a lot by actually keeping a bike and getting the best out of it. Things that probably I should have known and I am sure many on here already knew. By altering one part of the bike it impacts on other parts and there is a benefit to getting everything all on it and ensuring it all works well together. Every change I make to braking, suspension, geometry etc really does make a difference to the overall result. Not a good pic, but the easiest one to find, quite a few scattered on the 04-07 pics thread. I could have gone for a cartridge kit, but tbh I felt I could achieve what I wanted better with a more custom focussed set up for my needs. It appears to me, that some of the cartridge kits are more suitable for track conditions than road. I was willing to spend the money on a full kit but Darren gave me an alternative and there were some kits he thought were not best suited to my riding needs. View attachment 29669
Ah, i was looking at MCT last night ! Roughly how much was the fork job ? Sounds like the roads over here on the island... Your link doesn't work unfortunately mate..
Carbon blanks aren't working for me... To noticeable, and the idea is not to notice any disruptions to flow of the fairing... Might have to do them in black with some countersunk's, so back to the drawing board i think !
Sorry Blackness about link , worked when I previewed it. Post 471 in pics and vids in 04/07 blades pics has the most recent pics of my bike, tried to link it but my brain seems to have disengaged again. Can't remember exact figure but think it was around £500 mark, I took bike in and out the same day.
No, worries, I'll go and track them down mate ! And was that a noticeable difference for £500 ? Like the thought of ride in, same day service !
Would be idea if it wasn't £36 for two little bits of plastic that had R&G stamped on them mate, but thank you anyway !
Your welcome Blackness, found this link for blank mirror block off plates. http://www.amazon.com/Yana-Shiki-A2924BL-Mirror-Block-offs/dp/B001YJ1NRK/ref=sr_1_fkmr1_3?s=automotive&ie=UTF8&qid=1422208372&sr=1-3-fkmr1&keywords=2007+2006+Honda+Cbr+1000+RR+Graves+mirror+block+off+plates
Thanks dude. Ive just ordered a 5mm thick piece of black acrylic but i'll bare them in mind if i feck them up
I use MCT for my suspension service and can highly recommend Darren and Tom. With the ride in ride out service, you can sit there with a brew and watch them work on your bike in their workshop. Once they've refitted the suspension, Darren will take the bike for a quick spin and make a few tweaks when he gets back to make sure the setup is just right.
Hey Exfire.. I trawled through hundreds of 04-07 pics and finally found yours ! Absolutely beautiful ! I remember it now, and remember seriously admiring it not long after i first joined, so your a bit to blame to for my diminishing bank account too haha

It can be endless... I should be satisfied with all I'm doing to it, but i know i'll start thinking about blue printing, cam's, porting, skimming, turbo and so on and so fourth... I think the best thing for me to do is to buy a second hand engine once I've got all this lot bolted together and set up, and put my interests into that and do it slowly. That way my wondering hands will leave the bike alone long enough for me to get out and enjoy it ! Then when next winter comes, Operation Badass engine build !
