haha yeah photoshoot!! Will make sure she's in there then mate, sure I will have the camera rolling for that meeting
Not much to show today, although i have been in the cave all day apart from popping out to drop my rear wheel back to paint guy for a lil touch up after the minor incident, but he had it back to me this evening, good to go ! I've spent most of the day just finishing hiding and tidying the wiring away. Sprayed a little bracket for the hugger and the one for the camera in satin black.. Adjusted and checked over my new qat throttle before finally getting the air box back on and tank bolted down... Slowly getting there... Tomorrow is front end day ! Deep cleansing everything and bolting in the wheel and getting them Brembos on ! New carbon front guard will be here too, as i got on to them as it was ordered a week ago, but they apologised for some cock up and got it out 24hr guaranteed ! Back wheels going in and chain on as well, so looking forward to a good day
No mate.. He would have only received it today ! Was thinking i may call him tomorrow, or may just leave him to it for a surprise
Me either mate ! i feel this is the week she all comes together Think about doing a lambchops style vlog about her...
I got onto the Ti people i got all the disc bolts from about the two that snapped and they assure me they are top quality aerospace grade 5's, so now i am questioning my torque wrench ! They are sending me another two replacements out, but i'd already got two sent via pro bolt that charged me the princely sum of £17 something ... For two little bolts ! Never mind... Least of my expenditures ! I'm looking at Oberon race fuel caps now Black surround with gold centre maybe, or would that be too much ?!
Not long been back in from the cave... I haven't really achieved all i set out to today really due to human errors that keep plaguing me ! Damn humans First took the wheels to be balanced, which is a mission as i can only find one tyre fitters on the island that can balance a bike wheel. Had to wait there an hour for them to do it, and now my ocd is hating these nuggets of lead that are clinging to my beautiful shiny wheels like leeches, draining it... I'll get a bit of the touch up paint on them tomorrow i reckon ! My carbon from mudguard arrived while i was out, which is always nice to return too. Looked it over and it appears ok.. Couple of minor imperfections, but i do have ridiculously high standards I then spent most of the evening cleaning up and swapping over all the rubber grommets and things from the old guard to this one, and fettling out and drilling to get it all to fit. Its funny the consistency of looking at a little job and reckoning that it'll take 15 minute, yet you always forget to put an hour in front of it... Totally sanitised the forks and gave everything in range a good dousing of acf-50 ! First time I've ever used it, but I'm loving the stuff !! Leaves a real nice finish on everything, and I'm going to attack the engine bay of my car with it when I'm done here.. Ordered a black fairing bolt kit from pro bolt, so just put the guard on with some temporary original bolts until they arrive just so i could stand back and admire... Looks beautiful ! Was gonna post a pic up but i thought id wait until I've got the wheel and the Brembos on before i spoil you with such delights Also pro bolt are sending a black fuel filler cap set to go with the Oberon black and gold filler cap i ordered today as well At least the ordering has gone down from £1000 a day to only around £100... But then its the show at excel this friday so anything could happen !
Its been a day of ups and downs, as usual... Up's: Got up early (for me) and attacked the front end and got it all together. Went and accosted my friends lovely Snap on torque wrench, as i lost faith in mine and started doubting it after the Ti disc bolt shenanigans... got home and postie had been and delivered both the Ti replacement bolts for Moto-direct on ebay, and also the two i ordered from Probolt that i had ordered out of desperation too as hadn't heard from the ebay chaps... Also checked the tracker on parcel force site and it said my package was at my local Royal Mail office awaiting charges ! I thought id take the bull by the horns as i know they'd drag there heals and rang round, found its location and the charges and took off to get it... Downs: I got charges £72 ! The same as what i got charged for my Ohlins from America ! How does that work out when theres about £400 difference between the two ?! The package was BIG ! Had to unpack it in the car park and spread it out around the car... Up's: Its black ! Down's: Its not the most amazing paint job i've ever seen Bit lumpy if you look in a few places and stuff. Should have guest when thy sent me the picture with it drying in some yard out in the sun, but it'll have to do for now.. I imagine its not such an issue to them as they cover most of their fairing kits in transfers and hide everything but on mine theres nowhere to hide... I haven't looked at it all yet but hoping for the best. Ups: Had a wrestle with my new chain riveter and got the chain on ! Torqued everything up on the back end (with no snapping), sprocket cover and clutch slave all back together, and all looks lovely and rolling more bling than an triple OG Downs: Torqued up all the front end, brembos, banjos, and axel... I then put the two new Ti disc bolts in from Moto-direct as the pro bolt ones were a bit different but must say looked nicer, and started torquing... You so know what coming ! Dink Snapped at 15nm ! Feckin feck fecker !!!! Stripped whole front end back down, stripped off disc, dremeled a slot and luckily managed to wind it out I put the disc back on loosely with the bolts i have left but they are feckin gone !! Gonna bite the bullet and get some from Probolt tomorrow and replace them with the wheel on the bike. Then rebuilt the front end, yet again and re-torqued ! I now have a total fear of the torque wrench I used to be a disbeliever of the torque wrench, and would always feel it needed just a little tweak more... But not anymore.. Proper paranoid ! Have to torque with my eyes shut now... I fitted the camera bracket and mounted the camera properly and tidied all the backend wiring (which is only two skinny wires), and thats all looking slick... Ups: Jimmy from Car and Marine interiors rang and my seat will be finish and sent out to get to me before the weekend ! Its suppose to be a bit special, so really looking forward to seeing that ! Perfect timing as i'll have the seat unit and that on by then I've realised i need to get gold mesh for the seat unit to match the stuff in the fender and hugger ! Anyway, i've been working on that bitch for about 14 hours today and now i'm sitting rattling on talking about her still ! Sometimes i do wonder about myself... Oh, and decided i want a new radiator ! Anyway... I'm outta here... TBC...
haha great write up G.. keep em coming! sounds like you have had too much wheatabix with all this titanium shearing! have you ever tried ripping a phone book lol! on a serious note, she is coming on great.. keep at it!
Thanks mate... Phone books are easy ! You must be a man with Ti disc bolts ! Did you torque yours ? How much too ?
