ouch what a nightmare - get well soon pal! Wee tip from me, not sure if it helped or not, but i think it did for me after a nasty one. I hunted out a Hyperbaric Chamber in Aberdeen that MS sufferers use and went and sat in there for a couple of hours a session - twice a week. You breath pure oxygen in these chambers and its helps MS sufferers immensely apparently.. and of course for you would put pure oxygen into your body to heal that bone faster.

What you got to lose :)

Mate, sorry to hear about your accident, but sounds as though it could have been a lot worse.
I remember looking at the pictures a few weeks ago of the bikes in the cages ready to be shipped out.
Would your breakdown recovery insurance not cover getting the bike shipped home ? Wishing you a full a speedy recovery.

Wow, first time I had seen one of these when it was fitted to my leg.....how are you finding it..mine was bleeding for 6 days..they made the holes and then stitched around the PIC sites...

Only issue was 2 of the 3 pins they logged in the fracture.. So really it was not holding on to much..3rd pin eventually came loose..

Ouch..its hard as I have 3 small kids 3,5 & 7 to entertain as well...

Thanks for the offer - will give it some thought..as the costs of flying and riding back from Italy inc over night stay etc..I think would add up to £300 - £350ish...unless you love riding...;-)

    Thanks...

Small print in most for EU breakdown cover guess same will apply to cars..they will not recover you if you have an accident..only problems with the bike..even then they will tow you to a garage first..so at night..you will have to get towed and stay in hotel..till they decide if its fixable...so stupid!

On my list to call as soon as iv had my painkiller at 9am..

I am so lucky I had the most basic buppa cover..cost I think £420 for the year.. Would so recommend it..specially for issues like mine.

I found the right consultant, at the right time who knew exactly what to do and what not too..

Went to the docs surgery to get pain killers...even the doc looked confused and fascinated by seeing the new frame on my leg..lol

NHS - I don't know what would have been the outcome to my infection / issues...think I would have lost my leg..

    Thanks Carl..

At the hospital tomorrow - nurse is cleaning the infection site...(was going to post a PIC...but its not a pretty site)..

Looking forward to her telling me it's getting better...and not looking forward to her cleaning it with some painful alcoholic solution ..and using a scalpel to cut out anything from it..coz that bloody hurt!

Sorry to hear about your infection, mine was an open fracture but no infection and it was done by the NHS,then again they did pump me with lot of drugs and antibiotics.
Luck thing was Staffordshire University Hospital is the multi truma unit for North Wales and Professor Thomas there invented that fixator thing on my leg, very nice bloke and explained everything about it,just wish my body would listen and heal bloody quicker :-(
Good luck with your wound cleaning day hope everything is improving for you nicely.

Not going to help Repsol I don't think (get well soon, buddy), but it's worth checking your Euro cover insurance to see if it covers for eventualities like getting ill.

Carole Nash include Euro cover with their insurance policies and will send someone out to ride your bike back should you become too ill to ride it. Gives good peace of mind for when bad luck strikes, like Repsol unfortunately had.
