I bought a new lead the other day for mine but the bolts on the battery seemed to short for the extra 1 or 2mm of metal loop.

Bike is a 2013, I need to try again :-(

I had the same problem as I also put heated grips on straight to the battery, I used stainless steel bolts that were slightly longer. It is a metric thread.

I hope I'm wrong but I think my Optimate is showing Yellow and Green lights again which last time meant I needed a new battery.
I have a datatool alarm fitted, QS and GI but wouldn't have thought that would matter, would it?
Thoughts guys please. New battery fitted within last 6 months.

Is there a easier way to connect this without having to remove the seat? or do you all remove the seat to connect the charger every time?

You only remove the seat the once Sam to connect up the quick fit connector.

You then run this connector to wherever you see fit for your particular bike for ease of use.

The best place I find on a Blade is to have the connector poking out of the small triangular outlet in the Bikes frame as seen below on mine.

When not in use it can safely be tucked back inside the frame space.

In the below picture the quick fit outlet is currently connected to a USB outlet mounted on the dash so it serves a dual purpose role as a Sat Nav/Mobile phone charger outlet when riding and then a Charging port when in the garage. The USB outlet can easily be run under the Tank cover back to this point from the Dash. (2nd Pic)

Sounds unlikely to only last 6 months. Having said that, it only takes one careless spell of over-discharging a battery (i.e. a couple of weeks laid up, with your alarm draining it) to knacker a battery. Keep them charged up and they'll last for ages, but over-discharge them and they'll never be the same again.

or route the lead so the connector lives under the pillion seat... nice and easy to get to.

Tried that one Gappy but the lead ends were too big to fit through any available holes leading through to the Batt area.

Nope, mine didnt simply poke through either... there is a cross-member onto which the latching mechanism bolts. I had to remove said cross-member, route wire underneath, then re-attach the cross-member. 20 mins work, but well worth it.
