What size glove are you Charlie? I've got a good spare set you can borrow as a backup incase they wont allow you on? There was a thing at croft a while back where they stopped someone going out because of their gloves. He had to borrow someone elses from another group of they wouldnt let him ride.
They won't check that, you'll probably have to unstrap the glove to show them your wrist band anyway while you queuing up in pit lane at the start of each session!
They'll be fine, that's not the sort of thing they check, it's more that the onus is on you to make sure your kit is suitable. Your glove also has a strap in the cuff, so all is good.
Only 2 days to go now . Thinking of taking, packed lunch, drinks, Allen keys, cable ties, insulation tape, furniture polish (for the visor) and tyre pressure gauge. Anybody add anything to this list? Anybody recommend what pressures to drop to providing its dry and sunny? Weather forecast is showing a fair day, 20 degrees and part sunny.
Firstly I'd take a wet cloth to clean your visor, put it in a carrier bag and pack it up tight so it stays wet. best to get all the bugs and shite off before you bother with furniture polish! Ask the tyre guy at the track what pressures are best for the conditions. Oh and...... Petrol!!! Bet you can't wait..... Is it on Monday??
Sorry, that should have read polish and cloth. I'll have a full tank when I arrive and money if I need more. Tuesday it is, yea I can't wait mate. Looking on the website it seems as though there's still space too
Had an amazing time today, we had wet sighting laps and a damp first session then after that had hot, dry and sticky for the rest of the day. Really loved it, everything really clicked in the last 2 sessions and could knee down everywhere which was a big box ticked. "Novice" was a bit of a joke really as there were lots of track bikes with tyre warmers etc. I was up there though towards the end, there were only a couple of really fast blokes going past me and even then I could live with them. Had one dodgy moment in session 2 where I'd forgotten to drop the tyre pressures after the wet start. Passing someone round the outside of Lodge the back stepped out and nearly spat me off. Lesson learnt there with the tyre pressures.
Which tyres are they? After a pair for Cadwell in July, don't want to spend silly money on Supercorsa's
Bridgestone S21 on the rear and an S22 on the front. They're not particularly cheap but worked well. I haven't mismatched on purpose, the rear will have an S22 once its finished.
That was so much like me. At croft only my second track day experience and spent 2 sessions trying to get below 1.44 finally I achieved it to then see Leon Haslam a few weeks later doing a sub 1.20 and I was like WTF. how can anyone find 25 seconds per bloody lap, I was absolutely committed in win it or bin it mode. I spent weeks thinking about how crap I really was to this day I dont know where he was finding 25 seconds
Are you seriously wondering why and ex GP rider, ex BSB champion and WSBK rider is 25 seconds a lap faster than you!??!!!
I really did, I was gutted for weeks I couldn't get my head around the maths Within 1 lap he was going to be half a mile ahead I think I just had my tyre pressures wrong
Just declare to yourself that 50% of the time you lost is in the machinery, doesn't make it as bad then.
I didn’t even have that excuse. Rutter was on the same model/spec bike as me and was still 21 seconds a lap quicker. Witchcraft, that’s what it is!
