Still thinking about swapping my Brand new K1 and K2 for my old Road Battlax?? Its the fact that the K1 and K2 are new and not been scrubbed in yet...

I would fit your battalax and save your new tyres ..track temp will be sbout 5 degrees I guess . Grip levels will be Shite so no real Benefit with the better tyres. Save them and use the road ones to have a run round and get a feel for the bike..

Well i sent a pm to Tyre Geezer last night and this morning he replied advising me to keep the K1 and K2 on but make sure the tyre warmers are kept on all day setting the pressures cold at f29 and r27 also use the first session to bed them in, no heavy breaking and smooth throttle...

So I'm even more undecided, i need a name change from Mad Matt to Fairy Matt:p

tbh withouyg knowing what it's going to be like,it's hard to say.

but you need to remember, this wont be a day that your breaking lap records,it's a shake down more than anything and getting to know the bike set up,so tbh it wony make much difference imo what tyres your running, there will be enough grip in the road tyres for the amount of pushing you'll be doing,as long as you keep a level head that is ;)

Matt I am using the new METZ RR on the rear (200/55/17 K1 front K2 rear same compound as this time last year and it looks like it's going to be slightly warmer if it's not wet I wouldn't worry too much about tyre choice none of us are going to be expecting PB and it is just a shake down certainly for me anyway we can all get silly:D once track temps are better .

As Scooby said you can't expect to be doing your forecast 1.45 laptimes and elbow down stuff just yet  and for you its a new bike so just take your time to get used to the bike even though you talked the talk for long enough none of us are expecting you to be VR just yet .:D

If I had inters then I probably would use those in the morning then switch to my RR after lunch so maybe put your road tyres on and see how they feel.I will keep the RR on and just take it easy on the corners and get on it on the straights .:D

So what do you have on the front?

I totally understand that you guy's won't be going for PB's but i am, but my PB is propa shit so it doesn't mean i have to go crazy, anything below 1:57 will be acceptable for cold damp conditions:)

Don't take this the wrong way, but 1.57 IMHO in these conditions is prob going to see you push your luck...

Nothing away from your desire to do well, or steep learning curve you have, but don't set the bar to high in pretty much winter conditions
