I'd never buy a new to the market bike, wait at least a year for them to iron all the kinks out and deal with all the recalls!

Be interesting to see what the insurance companies make of it. If they suffer disproportionate losses on the Paningale the premiums on them will shoot up.

My buddy just put down a grand deposit on one last week with a July delivery date. Don't think I'll be letting him know this, don't want to be the bearer of bad news. Also, was reading on the 1199 forum about oil burning and serious smoking on start up- I'll keep that to myself too.

What with the panigale and now the new 2012 BMW 1000rr recall I'm starting to think it was a bloody good thing to stick with the blade after all.

I have some images of a bike just like that, there are a few that run 999r motors with moded air box and t-bodies etc also make for a high spec track bike, some use diff crank etc to pull 1180cc from the 999 motor. Mate just sold his 998r last of the tessastretta engine 916 shape Ducs nice bike! Any hig reving over squr motor will suffer oil and reliab problems much like the MX bikes I have worked on for so many years tbh I cant see it will ever be a strong engine! Also I have heard they are already working on bugs for the 2013 bike and an homologated R for WSB also for 2013..

Still doesn’t stop me lusting after one, as I have said before. My next superbike will most likely be my last before; I hate to say it, a slow comfortable Harley or something similar. We all have to get old sometime fella’s.

Just watched a you tube clip MCN riding the IOM on one. The quality of sound is so shit i could not include it on here. Makes the Barons clips seem like Hollywood standard.

they did a write up in one of last months bikes mags about these issues with the Duke and the noise. glad we still have pembrey and Anglesey as they have no issues with noise.

Castle combe have the 08 on wards blade on their list of bikes that are unable to go on track with a standard can !

This will make you laugh, my mate who has always wanted a Ducati said when another mate fired up his 1199 I do love the sound of a dry clutch! I said yeah only problem is the 1199's is wet! says it all about engine rattle, got to say they do sound rough but then so does the likes of the s1000 when you compare it to say a Honda, seems mechanical noise is more of a thing now maybe it's just that they need huge tolerances with all that power. who knows....
