I've been using a company in Germany called FC MOTO, really good prices but now their website is stating 'you may incur customs charges' we will see this more and more now!!
I looked at the Dainese site the other day and it said they weren't shipping anything to the UK yet, not until the government clarified what was happening post Brexit. They've changed that to not shipping to Northern Ireland now. I don't think there seems to be any clear guidance on VAT and import duty yet. I'd initially read that it would only apply to items over 300 odd quid. I saw someone comment they'd had to pay it on something just over 100.
From an Irish resident, we are getting shafted buying anything from the UK.......that means sportsbikeshop is outta the question. So. it's FCMOTO and the likes from here on in. Luckilly I was holding off on a new leather pants & FCMOTO ahve 10% off for Valentines day
It seems you will have to pay VAT, you will have to pay someone's tax. What you want to avoid is double taxation. Everything in the EU will already have its tax applied and added to the price and then are they adding another lots of taxation to export to the UK ? There is no VAT where I live so big players like Amazon and Sportsbikeshop can deal with that and VAT is applied at 0.00%. Others not always deducted so I have to take it on the chin. Exporting from here to the UK we have that VAT issue. Selling something online to someone in the UK requires paying VAT usually to the courier or at the Post Office. They ask questions of value and you pay the postage plus any VAT (UK 20%). I sold something to one of the forum members last year and prepared an invoice showing the VAT calculation. The amount was small and so no issue, but that is what we have always had to do. We always include a basic invoice typed out on Word or Excel ! You are going to get taxed - governments want your money - just have to avoid paying two lots of tax.
Gb Racing covers recently fitted, relatively easy to fit, fairings have to come off completely but it gave me chance to give everything a good clean.
