I think Mr Honda builds good bikes, but I also think he wants to make money. So sometimes Mr Honda does not always put the best of everything on his bikes and you have to consider the price bracket the bike is in. So if something is not on a Blade I do not automatically think " it can't be improved/changed Mr Honda knows best " although this may be the case on some things. Tyres are perhaps one of those things. They put on something that will meet the majority of peoples needs. 50 profile tyres will suit many people and will tip in as fast as many people want to. There are other people who may think they want something different to suit their own use/riding style. It comes down to personal preference, bikes are very much a personal thing. I do not think anyone could convince me that a 55 profile tyre does not turn in quicker than a 50 profile tyre on the same type of tyre. Obviously, speed of tip in is only one factor to consider when choosing a tyre. Whether someone sees this as a positive or negative is down to them. From my own experience on my bike with my set up, I can definitely get my bike over and back up quicker on a 55 and also flick it around more easily. My bike is not stock though so over peoples experiences will vary. I am a road rider though, so have no experience of track use.
Diablo rosso corsa are awesome tyres, i've used them loads of times on both blades, about 2 - 2.5 thou for a rear, the outer compound is the same compound as the sc2 with a harder central compound. The K3 is sort of between the 2 compounds, last time I got 1,200 miles from a rear K3 but that was at the TT where speeds were much higher than over here. The only downside of the rosso's is you cant put as much power down whilst picking the bike up out of corners. Not really a big deal on the road, but i'd stick to track tyres for track use..
