Would just like to add I ticked the windows 7 box and I have 64bit version. Could this make a difference do you think?
Could do mate? IIRC, canon don't have drivers for 64 bit, only 32bit, Emily`s Canon EOS wont work on her windows 7, but does in her card reader. The card reader will be faster anyway.
Sorry, I'm diving between a customer and the really important things today. so just got back to my desk. Steve, just checked out some Canon support forums and there are 64 bit issues with the 350 but it seems to be a bit random whether you suffer them or no. What support Canon are offering for it seems to be 'forget it and download our latest zoom browser software'. They're implying that it's no longer possible to download from the camera. To reiterate what Si has said, there's a definite speed advantage to a reader over direct link so it would be a net gain for you anyway.
Cheers Ken, I've removed and re-installed too many times now so between yours and Si's advice I've ordered a card reader from ebay .....thanks
FTAO Si and Kpone Well, I don't know what to say......Awesome delivery service!!! Card reader arrived this morning from London and I only placed the order yesterday at 3 o'clock! Anyway, on inspection the usb lead supplied with it has the same connection as the lead for my Canon 350D so before I do anything I thought I'll just give it a try with the camera and HEY PRESTO!!!! It works again!! The damn thing is only 12ins long and doesn't look like you could do it any harm with a bloody hammer!! So, I'm back up and running in the picture department again but I'll give the reader a go 'cos you said it's probably easier and quicker. Also I need to borrow that sledgehammer of my mate Garyb and smash the old one to bits for causing me so much pain!!!
Great news that you got a result Steve. If only I didn't over think problems I would have got you an answer days ago. Dodgy USB cable!
