Thing is mate I have a bike sitting there that only needs a set of fairing flung on and it would be ideal on track if need be. I'll wait to see what the season ahead brings and take it from there.
I'd only done about 8 in total (edit - 2 one year, 1 next, year off then about 5 on blade in track trim) before the bib went on that's how fooking quickly i got hooked once doing regular....
Did u see watchdog about these vans? If u have to have injectors done some dealers will pay towards it BBC One - Watchdog - Vauxhall, Nissan and Renault vans I've done a few 6 speed boxes on these, wouldn't bother with second hand cos they that common for going, starter motors are a pain to get out, best dropping exhaust off turbo to get it out
Yea seen that, but that's on the older models and not the CDTi as far as I am aware. I could be wrong though in regards to the injectors. Again the gearbox issues I know about, again if I need to change that out then so be it. Every car, van or bike has it's issues.
We used to service a fleet of these 05-11 plate ones all vans have various issues 6 speed suffer more than 5 but saying that theses vans are battered and all easily over 200k miles good van
Vito's and Transporters are stupid money for what they are. Just been quoted £15300 + VAT on this exact model on Autotrader for delivery next March on a 15 Plate with their 4x4x4x4 offer! That's 4 years Warranty, 4 years Breakdown cover, 4 years Servicing and 4 years Zero %! Tiz a No brainer! 2015 VAUXHALL VIVARO 2900 LWB Sportive *NEW* *140 Bhp Model* Diesel in Polegate | Auto Trader Vans A Merc or VW is £10K plus on that price and old tech and look dated in comparison. Yes they fetch a bit more come sale time but why should I tie up all that extra CASH of MINE for years just for that? Just doesn't stack up financially which is why you don't see many outside of private hands or business run them.
Sorry mate, don't like the look of that, looks like a comedy van. Agree what your saying though on a business front, but think I'd go with the custom?? As for looks.... Still think the vw looks the best. And you can buy a 2nd hand one, use it for 100k and lose next to nothing on em.... But new for warranty and business use, your plan makes total sense. Guy that does work for me has a demo firm, his insurance bill alone is +£500k for his fleet, he obviously runs heavy gear in the vans, but after trying everything and killing em in no time at all, he's gone back to vw's. class vans In regards to a track van, light work van, plenty out there.... My movano isn't exactly bullet proof, but gives it character and I love it all the same
Customs have had loads of issues Jimbo as they are made of Chocolate! Ford have gone for loads of Bling inside but the basic structure is shyte! A local Housing association have 6 of their new Tranny Customs back at the Garage within 3 months due to their Cab doors bending the main chassis framework when they catch in the wind which is a major job to fix. Just shutting the rear doors sounds and feels like they're made of paper. Even a local Ford Sales Rep we know said they're shyte build quality, he had a potential Customer in looking at buying 5 Vans and whilst talking about the Van the Customer lightly leaned against it and caused a big dent in the side of it. No Ta!
Is this the same chocolate Honda use for gear boxes? Ha My bro just bought one for his firm, so far says he thinks its quality.... But time will tell. His partner had a traffic with 160k on no issues (one of the rare ones in my experience) so maybe just easy on vans? I'd struggle to believe the ford is poorly made compared to a Renault but I don't know enough about em tbh.... As said, sure they all have there problems, just got to roll the dice.... Only one that doesn't se to have loads of issues is the vw?
Fair points Jimbo but at a £10K + saving then I'll take an 'issue or 2' and let the warranty sort it. I've sneaked in to the VW T5 forums sporadically and I'd not say they were 'issue free' by a looooonng shot!
Love the transit custom been using one now trouble free for last 16 months....... no bent doors or chassis yet...... if its windy........STAY INDOORS !!!!!
Looks a nice clean van Colin , I use these for work and only ever needed a clutch after 108,000 miles . good luck hope it does you well .
If they were my business vans, I'd by custom, traffic, or vauxhall all day long and take a punt on warranties etc mate, make you right. For a personal van I'd prefer a 2nd hand vw. Just me Don't know what issues you get with them tbh, but don't se to be the common things other vans get?
Agree with Jimbo.......cost effective to get the custom but you cant beat the VW.......IMO.......... plus if you lick the dash on the custom it tastes of Cadburys !!
I love my VW! Nearly didn't buy it though when I looked at the reviews, but then look at the reviews for all other vans and you just wouldn't buy a van of any kind if you believed everything you read!
