Benn and other BIB. May I ask, do you ever feel the need to keep what you do from others just in case they treat you different? I for one have no issues with what anyone does for a job.

Other members, a question. Do you feel anyway different having Police on the forum?

I ask as I have gone out for a blast with Police on their time off (mates) and never felt that "I cannot ride how I like". mainly due to riding sensibly but I do like to make progress. if it's safe to do so and if i'm leading my mates (the off duty coppers) are happy to keep up and not tell me "THE DANGERS OF SPEEDING"

Just intrested to find out how others feel. But please keep it light hearted. As I know you lot will :yo:

Out of my usuall 10 group of lads I ride with, only three of us are not 'job'... trust me, if you ever see us out, you'd never guess that 70% of the group are police...

They are bikers, who are police officers at work! Lol

I think they (police riders) are exactly like us when they go out on their bikes, why buy a superbike if you are not gOing to use it, in the right places mind! I ride sedately in 30 and 40 limits but get into the countryside and I use it as it was intended to be used. With age comes experience and a bit of respect for others around me but when I'm in the mood and conditions are right by god I give it some and that's why I ride a blade, yes it's a selfish thing as I'm only doing it to make me feel good but why else are we here!

I do agree with Matt. What you are 9 to 5 shouldn't be an issue, and even then I have no axe to grind with the BIB's. They're never likely to give me a hard time for behaving myself, and if I'm not, then I'm fair game.

If a police presence on the forum, albeit a purely social one causes you to think twice about what you are likely to post then what you are about to post must be questionable anyway. If you're worried about Big Brother, wind your neck in and keep it to yourself.

The opposite is just as true. If I was bragging about tonning up in a built up area and one of our 'Serve and Protectors' didn't take me to task over it, then they'd be doing themselves an injustice, and to be honest, so would the rest of you.

We have a right to express ourselves and speak freely in this place and feel comfortable while doing so, but we also have the right to remain silent (don't we boys?), which, if we don't fulfil when we know we're in the wrong, well, that's just daft isn't it.

These guys are doing a job most of us wouldn't touch with a shitty stick, for the most part putting themselves out there to keep us safe. We shouldn't have a problem with that any more than with me being a Ginga, Dan being Welsh or Bill being a brother. (Not so sure about the Welsh, but I'm on a role here). It's just another form of Prejudice.

    IMO

I have no problem at all with having Coppers on the site, why should I? They're bikers and the same as the rest of the members, unless they want to make themselves different in which case I don't think they would be popular. One of my biking pals (not the other pratt I've previously mentioned) is also a serving police officer and a grand bloke who loves his biking and when the situation allows it is an absolute laugh.

Btw, just as a matter of interest, how do our Police Officer members feel about being referred to as 'Coppers'. It's what I've always referred to them as, but not meant to be offensive.

Considering the tag Benn chose I'd be surprised if being called a copper would make him cry.

Sure, but there are others on the site as well, and I'm curious as to how the term 'Copper' is viewed generally.

I can't see their being a issue with being called a Copper. there is much worse that can you say. And no need for it,

Boys in blue, copper I hope they are just asy terms for calling a police officer something.

After 27 years in the job I could write a book on the things I've been called, mostly unprintable, if that makes sense:confused:

Can't stand em, had nothing but grief off them since i got on the road at 16.
In my youth i got stopped 2-3 times a week, one copper even said "how does a ni33er like you afford a bike like this"
and almost everytime i was searched with my hands against the wall and legs spread like some criminal.

I must admit these incidents happened 25+yrs ago but you don't forget sh!t like that.

Touch wood, i've not been stopped in over a year now.

will bill, if you had been treated like that when young I can understand how you could feel. Let's just hope others who may be in the same shoes are not treated like that nowadays .
