Powder coating wheels

    Just to resurrect this thread.

    This talk of tapping the brake disc bolt threads. Is it just to clean out powder coat residue to make sure that you don't overstress the bolt when refitting the brake discs?

    If you simply put get some replacement bolts to plug the holes when you have them powder coated will that do?

    Not sure but don't the wheels get quite hot when being done? Maybe it could weld the bolts in??
    But I could be talking shit, I normally do ;)

    The company I used completely masked over all the disc bolts holes and the inner wheel where the bearings sit, removed the tape and simply screwed the bolts in!

    The tape they use is silicon tape or they can use tapered silicon bungs another way is to use old bolts that are of the correct size/thread.
