I have only known two people with KTM bikes, both were short lived as they both bought them for a "fun" second bike, whereas in reality they never got around to using them other than the first week they bought them as they just weren't as much fun as they had hoped and not as much fun as they bike they already had in the first place. I guess that's why those 2 would have had a short term ownership on them. Just 2 scenarios I know of to to throw out there
I've contacted the guy and said, no thanks. Something just doesn't ring true. I think I'll stick with the Blade. Maybe just throw some more money at it
Yes, 6 owners is too much in my opinion. 2 the max for me. Unless you loving the bike so much, then go for it. Some people tend to ride it for a few months and then sell it. Strange but...
I can see why KTM superdukes might be short-term owning kind of bikes (I'd love to have a go on one though). but I echo other comments on here.... it would just feel like too many owners.
6 owners in 7 years is not that bad, you could probably take another one off if the supplying dealer pre-registered it to get numbers up. My old K3 Gixer had 5 owners and it was showroom mint well until I got it and killed it!
I can see both sides of the argument. Yes 6 owners is a lot and will effect your resale value when you come to sell it so the price would have to reflect this when you bought the bike. On the flip side I would rather have 6 careful owners than 1 idiot who abused his bikes and didn't maintain them to a high standard. Buy on condition and history rather than number of owners is my advice. However make sure you get it at a discounted price as you will also have to move it on cheaply when it's your turn to sell to owner number 8.
It did put me off buying a blade at the start of the year. The bike was in good condition and was up for the right money. It had full service history and all the previous mot's but when I checked the log book it had 10 owners in 9 years. I wasn't about to become the 11th!! Anyway glad it did put me off as I found a better bike in the end with half the number of owners in the same period, less miles and slightly better condition for just £200 more.
