Lol You'd need to get yersel a LED rear light cluster and be prepared to use the under tray of the R&G tail tidy you just bought.
Just had R&G on the phone. Looks like we are going to have to remove this group buy as someone has complained about discount being offered.
Theres always some party pooper Nevermind Jonny at least you tried Back to the drawing board what do we all want next ???
Phone call from R&G saying at least one other dealer had complained that it was discounted. They wouldn't tell me what dealer, but told me to remove offer as the discount was too much?
Yeah, the same thing happens in our business. Back in the heady days of grey imports a lot of dealers lost their 'professional dealer' status for chopping their margins to try and compete and the manufacturers got stroppy.
Disappointing thing is, R&G where happy for me to run with this discount last week, as I spoke to them with regard to pricing etc. We've stocked R&G products since the day and hour we opened, and never had an issue. Seems that another dealer wasn't happy and complained. Ah well, we'll come up with another discount soon
Jonny i can see both sides here, i don't think the forum should be left with half a story. I don't want give the wrong impression because i've done a few group buys in the passed, but they are time consuming and not profitable so i don't bother now. I can see why you were doing this offer, its wicked and would attract a lot of attention to the store, and there lies its downfall, its caught the attention of the wrong people.. (not me i hasten to add) I am an R&G stockist, but I can genuinely see why R&G would put a stop to it once a complaint has been made. It would not suprise me if they had numerous calls over it. A lot of good honda franchised dealers will have bought stock in to sell through with bikes sales. Why would R&G upset so many of these dealers who order every week of the year for one bulk sale! R&G are very very good with traders and i too have never had an issue with them. Until i rushed a conversation with remal this week and he told the forum i was selling rearsets at £275.00. This was my fault for not being clear they were infact are a used rearset. What i liked was that they called to find what i was doing but more importantly did something about it when a dealer complained to them, and that i agree with. I infact wish more suppliers did this. Yes they will make the same amount of money out of it regardless of what you sell it out to the public at, but what about the 1800 dealers out there selling it at RRP who are R&G's bread and butter. When dealers stop selling stuff they'll stop stocking it, so keeping discounting in check keeps people like you and me still in business. If you kept making 50p out of every R&G item you'd stop selling it. So why would anyone else be any different. They clearly thinking long term not just for one quick sale. 19 items listed - 15 buyers for everything - thats 285 sales £18,000 of sales that would not be made at full price around the country that dealers won't be making in this shite climate. I don't know you at all, i don't know if your blaming R&G for pulling the offer you arranged. I don't know if you ever sought agreement from R&G or for the discount and they won't sell it too you because of a dealer complaint or protecting there own interest or simply you figured out your not going to make any money at all after posting it all out. I do know the R&G team along with their morals and business ethics. I do also know that if they had an agreement with you and there was no complaint made, they would have fullfilled your order. they are just protecting there future and the industry. If it were me and this happened to me, i'd be posting - guys i have to say i can no longer fullfill this offer due to lack of interest. Rather than laying blame at someones door. You know the game as well as i do and we play it every day fighting a losing battle with ebay, amazon.. How about supporting R&G for stopping discounting and keeping the industry afloat ! I'll happily tell the forum the truth about the bike industry is in a dyer state - we lost a lot of big players in the last 12 months and the only ones that are going to survive are those that are hot on pricing and discounting. I dropped 16 suppliers last year because i couldn't sell there stock for shear number of people selling it at 20% off retail on ebay, 7 of them have closed down. If you want local bikes shops and want good service, you want warranties honoured by companies that won't disapear in 6 months time. You love your hobby, then support your local trader guys & girls because everything including our government are against the bike industry right now. Jonny i ain't on here to argue or start a price war i barely know you, but if you want a beer at the trade show i'll happily buy you one !
I'm not blaming R&G one bit, a lot of the trade have specific terms for online trading now-a-days. I've a good idea who made the complaint. But it's too petty to get into. As a dealership, we spend a large sum of money on a monthly basis with R&G, we have a large stock of R&G products at all times and have a good bit of blade stuff instock. We do a lot of business, infact we're one of Ireland's largest and leading parts and accessories dealers. I had an agreement with R&G with regards to this group-buy, with certain t&c's but when someone complained that was it. I'm not fussed really, as I wasn't making any money out of this deal, so in a way it's probably a good thing. We won't be at the trade show this year, as we have a very busy few months here and I find that there isn't that much different at the show on a yearly basis, so give it a miss every so often.
thanks anyway jonny will just go and get it direct from their website cant see how that helps dealers!
Guttted !! Any of you guys deal with Evotech ?? I fancy a set of they're front & back spindle sliders now
I'll wait and get some second hand/new ones off the pit then, that said they go for practically the retail price anyway. Cheers Jonny, at least your still well good with the lines lol!!!
Oh yeah, I'd forgotten you could buy direct from them. I wonder how many dealers have whinged about that slightly restrictive practice?
