Thanks gents! Ill go have a rummage at the cam shop near work see what they can do on a gorilla pod. And will keep an eye on fleabay for a bargain monopod, looks like it will double up as an old boys walking stick too!!
I use my monopod for pretty much that. I live on the marshes so it's invaluable for checking that next step and it can give you 3 or 4 stops when the light goes. The Gorilla has the extra advantage that you're not limited to the ground. If the camera's light enough you can use it as a clamp too. You'd be surprised what you can dump in the bottom of your bag to brace your kit...
Tripod - SLIK - Sprint Mini II. It is about 10 inches long but extends to full hight in 3 extendible sections. Proper little tripod, light and small, and will take up to a normal DSLR and kit lens, is what I have used it for.
Today just entered this in the local photography competition. Artistically entitled: R1 No 1745 by 660 Mattie, on Flickr
Panasonic TZ70 travel zoom compact camera. Wanting something better than just the iPhone, but without the hassle of bigger DSLR style camera and lenses - to take on trips. Military Road, Isle of Wight. My Fireblade_ by 660 Mattie, on Flickr Edit: typo
A couple from yesterday's local sand racing at Vazon Beach. The little Panasonic TZ70 super-zoom compact is struggling a bit with the conditions. Very bright light reflected off the wet sand, and the detail is very poor really when you look at the images closely. Still, it managed some pictures at 20x zoom, better than an iPhone, but not in the same league as a Nikon D810 with a 500 mm f4 lens ! Still can't walk past it without taking a second look !! CBR1000 RR Fireblade by 660 Mattie, on Flickr
Some stunning photos of some beautiful birds, not my handy work unfortunately, the credit goes to the brother in law Rob a complete photography amateur !!!
Still a lovely looking bike, despite all the other more modern bikes around. Firebladelid by 660 Mattie, on Flickr
I think mine has the best colour scheme. I have put some bits on from a 2010 blade and fantastic gold forks.
