Phones and such like aren't calibrated devices. I have had my phone place me in Leeds when I was actually on a train near Stevenage. I also have had a journey track which had me doing hundreds of mph because it misplaced me for a while and then calculated the speed required to do the distance in the time. I suspect that eventually they will try and do someone and use the evidence from a phone and that if successful people will start removing the apps and disabling functionality.
I used the ride tracker app mcn done years ago and it lost me for about ten miles of the run.not sure how that happened but it made it look like I teleported on the google map overlay lol
