Hindsight is a wonderful thing, I'd never ride a bike without fitting Tank Pad or Rad Guards, to the point I ask the Dealer to fit even before a PDI if possible. then soon has bike is delivered home Ventureshield is fitted.

Feel sorry for the guy I'd be gutted, I take it to a paintshop get them to scotch pad and re-lacquer ...... or blame it on the dealer saying didnt notice til i got home:p

Tank Pads are ugly and destroy aesthetics of the bike

Can coatings of waxes and the like provide enough protection from scratches ?

I get some AutoGlym on mine straight away. Could a coating of wax have stopped those scratches on the tank ? or is that asking too much of a coating of wax ?

No I think that would not help as they look deep however when I have a new bike , after its 1st wash I do put a wax on it as it helps keep its shine.....Auto glym super resin polish the car maybe once or twice a year as it removes light swirls then gloss polish on top ....Auto glym Aqua wax is quick and easy and great reasults on car and bike..
Had the car treated when I had it from new makes a difference on life long shine ..,

Sweet bike that....have yet to see one out and about. Was on my short list! Like right at the top till recall dramas came about. I’m 700 miles in on the V4 and loving it:D

Would have to disagree on that one. Some....yes. But a nice HRC tank pad on the Blade looks well IMHO & serves a purpose.
They would look stupid on a cruiser etc, but not on a sportsbike.

To be fair, I have had 5 bikes by now and never managed to scratch the tank with my body/leathers/leather zips.
I seriously don't know how people do it.

That may be true, but if your were to buy a used bike, both same money same miles, one had a tank pad, one had loads of scratches on the tank due to no tank pad I wonder which would sell .

I have Ventureshield on the tank aswell so either way no scratches . !

I'm 6foot 2 and 15 stone no way in hell I can avoid contact with tank . I could diet I could excersise more I could stop drinking but a tank pad is saving me such misery.

I love the look of it And looks even better with lozzy laying all over it.
