I would truly love to get involved in this fight but can we put it back a couple of weeks as im still on probation for beating the living crap out of the last bunch of southern bikers
if this actually makes it to a track, I'm coming to watch. Of course I'll be wearing all my HRC Blade merchandise with a footy rattle and air horn!
Ill go back there after silverstone mate.... You can try and save some dignity on home soil!? (Sorry wink is only sarcy smile I have lol)
I took a 2014 s1000rr from holywood out on highway2 'the Los Angeles crest rd (quite possibly one of the best roads on the planet) while on my recent tour of the states. The BMW was IMHO A lovely civilised balanced quality piece of kit and it was suprisingly comfortable. The engine gave a much softer edged ride to my modded blade, yes it was balisitic at the top but the delay in getting there and the civilised way in which the power built steadily and the electric gizmos made it feel less of an animal than the blade. I liked its handling and breaks but obviosly prefered the blade I'm familiar with. On balance I would say that the blades chassis feels more flickable and planted even without electric rider aids........thats not to say that the BM isn't as good I'm just better on my blade. They're both great bikes each to there own, I'd love to have both.
Echo restone's comment on the civilised nature of the Beemer that was in sports mode. Intent was to find those extra horses which was not evident up to 8k revs and pretty sure it was all at the top end, race mode might have changed my opinion. The brakes were an eye opener as was all the electronics which would have put paid to any intentional stoppie. My 07 blade though tweaked was smoother (78k on the clock) could have embarrassed the Beemer in terms of handling and agility. On a roll off there was a distinct vibration through the bars at around 4k revs which I believe to be caused by the exhaust valve.
Had a sport coming down in the fast lane on the M6 today he wasn't clogging it but noting progress through my van mirror I couldn't work out what bike it was but what was evident was the one poor headlight which seemed dull and for any owners of this machine an headlight upgrade should be first on your list .
I've got a test ride booked on a 2014 BMW S1000RR and also a 2014 HP4 Carbon on Monday. It will be interesting to see how they compare. The last S1000RR I rode was a 2011 model Watch this space .......
