Whats the point, you cant ride a 170bhp bike properly in this weather anyway, si wheres the reasoning in getting it all minging for a bimble? If your a bimbler all year, fair play, makes no difference riding in winter, but if you like to ride them how Bab-San intended, winter is not the place!! Besides, my racebike, although daytime mot-able, has never seen a road.
I must be the SADDEST of the lot, mines in the shop whilst I'm working. Those oiks snooping about out the back has done my bike a favour. When I've got nothing to do thats when the urge to lift the cover up and peek gets hold of me.Then when the Mrs sees me tending to it she says you love that bike more than me!
Well I'm going to finish my coffee, go out and have a quick look at it, then I'm going to mount it grab its handles 'til it screams then hang on while it tries to run away screaming at me. That weird enough for you, James? Don't have a winter hack, mrs ken would draw a f*****g thick line in the sand if I even suggested it. I won't ride it in wet, icy or salty conditions but don't want to get put off riding it on the 'in between days' (ahhh, Robert Smith, brilliant!), by having to re commission it first, so fluids, charger, boots, whoosh! Today I'll be nipping around the city centre of a place that the Luftwaffe only half finished so it's become an abortion of 2000 years of history and deluded urban renewal. So bad parking, deranged one way systems from an Escher engraving and loads and loads of distracted drivers. Now I could have a scooter for this and the sports bike for the 'in between days' (ahhh.), but as we've established, I don't want to remain celibate for the rest of my life so I had to make a choice. So how many othe super bike's are tractable enough to let you treat them like a Lambretta occasionally. I hate shopping but today I'll be grinning all the way home.
I confess ----------------Ok Ok I'm a bimbler!!! LMAO. I'm still learning, getting quicker but taking it easy. But not in winter weather I would be sick if I dropped her on ice etc.I've dropped all my bikes the majority has been winter time. Not this one it's cost the most and I wanna ride it come spring.
good thread, I miss my bike, and go into the garage and potter about just to be in the garage with things I enjoy. Ride in the cold and wet, no thanks. it's my hobby and I get no fun being wet or cold
I am with you guys, if I aint riding it, I am looking at it, if I aint looking at it I am reading about it, if I aint reading about it i am thinking about it. My Mrs thinks we are all complete saddo's and need to get a life. I just thought it was me that’s not wired right before joining this forum. She once caught me gently stroking the fairing and said how come you don’t touch me like that anymore ?, I opened my mouth to speak, then thought better of it ! Its winter storage is not ideal at the moment but this time next year hopefully the new house and treble garage will be built, that’s if the local planning dept get of their lazy fat jobs worth arses. I can’t count the times I have had to alter my out line planning drawings. Garage will have same timber frame insulation as the house, power, lighting, heating and an upstairs office area all for me. (said rubbing hands together). Well I have to run, have a look in on P&J then bugger off over to the Midlands to see the kids for lunch then pick my old Ma up for Xmas. R&G fork protectors arrived yesterday so garage time if things get boring. Have a good time one and all. A big thank you to everyone for your help and banter over the last few months.
Cold is fine remal! Just wear right gear... Wet and salty, nah... What's the point! Don't get me wrong, I'll ride in the wet If I have to... And think every should as it'll only improve your dry riding... But I won't set off in the rain for a Sunday blast!!
Mine is always ready to ride and when it is dry I take her out. I am surrounded by forest with small B roads and some very narrow single lane ones. The roads can be tricky in the dry let alone ice and leaf clad. I often have to take it easy for ten miles just to get out onto a safer/faster road. If two weeks pass with bad weather then I pull her out from the bike shed and give her a bit of love and attention underneath the car port. I love having the carport, it is boxed in completely on three sides, nice and dry and out of the wind. I can stand and admire, sit on or just sit down and plan the mods and get images in my head as to how she will look. I do not enjoy riding a bike slowly, it frustrates me and sort of stresses me out. I love riding fast, I love overtaking and the joy of all joys riding round twisting winding roads. I also love pulling up and admiring her while having a stretch and coffee and then zapping off home to clean her and put her away ready for the next dash. I guess I see her fairly often, so don't need to go and specifically go and take a look at her........I know where she is, ready, willing and able. I was going to make a comparison with the Missus but decided against it.
I bought myself a heated vest made by Keis when I used to commute on the Hornet. Absolutely fantastic bit of kit, keeps your body core lovely and warm. Being able to power it off a battery pack as well as from 12v means it can also be used for other things as well. Considering the benefit it has brought me, I don't think it was too costly either.
I got the right gear but did not post just Cold, Cold I can manage. just look at this Minus 2 in mid wales, away for a weekend and only had my leathers. thank god for Under Armor winter gear and heated grips but cold and wet no thanks
