In my mind( and seems to work well with me) it IF it Ain't broke don't fix it. Never had any issues going the manufactures miles on a bike before oil and filter change. But everyone is different
Out of interest what would you then do if you are away on a trip for 2000+ miles? I ask as I have a good friend who does 2000-3000 miles a weekend and he never has the time to change the oil and filter at such low miles. and his 1000cc Fazer has been going well for the past 80,000 miles./ He changed it after when its recommended
lol if i was away on a 2000 mile trip i would be knackered and rich but obviosly i would not change it till i got home as i no the oil is good for 4000 I JUST LIKE MESSING WITH IT!!
I think you've all gone off on a tangent. The original question was " SHOULD THE BIKE BE SERVICES EVERY 6 MONTH/4,000 MILES or EVERY 12 MONTHS/8,000 MILES ?" WHAT IS THE ADVICE FROM THE HONDA MAIN DEALER ????????
the handbook says every 12 months or 8000 miles whichever comes first so theres your answer 8000 miles is way to much for oil to be in a sports bike so i would do it long before then as i said previously.
I know, however when I got the 600miles service done, the main dealer told me that Honda had changed their service intervals from 12months/8,000miles to 6months/4,000miles during 2009. The Blade owners manual was produced in 2008 even for 2011 models!! Hence the question!!!
think he's talking bollocks TBH my handbook is for a 1000RRA and 1000RAA (its printed on the cover so not an 08 handbook) which is the 2010 model and it says 12months or 8k miles
Totally agree with Flatstick, theres no way Honda would change the sevice times and rely on a spanner monkey to give people the good news. It would surely come officially From Honda UK if they proposed any changes
