Sounds like a good day out that @Selmer50mark i think I'd like to try that road myself one day soon! Maybe when I'm staying at the 'Lodge' then I haven't got the long trek home! Result that as well.......you haven't had to put your hand in your pocket for the last two weekends now!!
Barton Mills - 5 Ways bike stop this afternoon. Couldn't get a pin between parked bikes, counted over 40. Several Panni's, one parked up next to me but I pretended not to look..... Several three wheelers too but I need to put on about 20 stone to sit in one of them.
Was chatting with the steward at my local watering hole yesterday, and he’s a Matlock born and bred and was saying what great roads there are in the Derbshire Dale’s and that Matlock Bath is a bit of a biking haunt. Got the atlas out located where it is and it’s a doable ride from Kentshire, with the long days and hopefully better weather. Any locals can verify my little mates thoughts or otherwise, if it’s a any good, best times to go etc. Ta
You'll need a visa to get in from Lady Di & the Rt Horribubble Lozzy......£20 And try to moderate tha southern accent else tha'll get stuff chucked at thee
Roads are great. Especially if you go off the beaten track. I'd avoid a Matlock unless you like looking at other bikes instead of riding.
Well 2 responses, 1 extortion attempt and one suggesting better to stay away.......looks like Hastings again then
Noooo......come up Kentblade....we'll take you up the back roads and revitalise you with a spam fritter in Matlock before you head back
Thanks, but the spam fritters probably put the nail in the coffin, a 200 mile ride home with one of them churning around me insides will clearly end badly somewhere along the M1
B4391. Not far from Bala, it runs down to Ffestiniog. Its my favourite road in the UK outside of Scotland. Quite often see Top Gear filming in and around that road.
Early blat up to the bridge then on to Hawes, Layburn, back through Ingleton then bridge for a brew , they were open when I got back there . then home for breakfast L
