martin most bikes a reverting back to exausts low down for centre of gravity look at the triumph 675r prob the 600 honda will be this way next year we will wait and see, bearing in mind honda brought it out in 2003 with the 600 blade.hey manufacturers are like sheep one does it the rest follows?
Im test riding one as soon as one is available at Kent motorcycles.I may even have a second go on one at Laguna motorcycles.Just to see how it fares against mine..
Just off the phone to Hunts and all going well once I see the bike at the show I may well be signing up for 1 also.
Guess that's my point mate, we would all like an SP for bog standard money but it's not going to happen.. Fair play to who ever buys an SP, I guess it's personal opinion about if it's worth the extra, all I wanted to add to the discussion was IMO I think the price hike is worth the extra parts, I don't think it's a rip off at all, as for can you buy better with other brands for the same money, well as a open minded bike guy I'd say they are all fast, does the aid of electronics make the others better bikes, I'm not convinced! It does stack up some trump cards at the local pub or cafe if you have TC, AW, ABS, LC and so on...lol. I think I'd like an SP Anyway if you want an Ohlins S 1199 you'll need 20k!
Get in there mate, If I wanted a new bike I'd certainly have a good look at one. Right now with the kit on mine, I'm just not sure it's worh me changing. No need to justify it, it's your money and the extra kit is well worth the extra price over the base model IMO. Just remember it's the colour that makes it faster!
Totally agree, dont smoke or drink either and spend my cash on holidays and treats for the Mrs, me and me bike Good on ya dude, you'll def be having trouble leaving the bike meets come next spring /summer as am sure every bugger will have a question to ask ya
my partner has her horses i have a diff horse power, take u up on offer to tag a long to a meet with ya u can even have a go no probs
Just out of interest whilst we're on the point of cost, has anyone worked out how much it ould cost to 'build' an SP from a new 2014 bike? And how much you'd get for selling the replaced parts?
A guess would be: Top end 1500.00 Pistons and rods (guess as some cost a bomb each!) 1200.00 ish Forks 2600.00 TTX 1200.00 m4 800.00 Blade non ABS 11300.00 Total 18,600.00 (with no Honda warrantee) old forks 300 calipers 200 shock 150 ? not a lot...lol
Ahh but Arthur I remember Yamaha putting Ohlins bits on some of their bikes like the 1300 and it was not top kit and they own Ohlins ...................... hope they are not repeating history
