This is when I had them back, and assembled them: Cover that was powder coated: close up of rizoma pegs:
Looking at this pic of my original rearsets, does anyone know if any metal can be removed without compromising the strength of them? Was thinking of the two triangular areas and the piece that stands tall/proud of the rearsets (held the original heat shield in place)?
Just thinking about making them look a bit better as I'm toying with idea of having them powder coated Thought if I'm gonna go to the trouble of powder coating then the least I could do is get rid of the ugly hanger. Then I thought, well if I'm doing that I may as well see if there is a way of cutting out the triangles without compromising the strength of them. Also, it would get rid of the ugly hole in the bottom triangle
When I say the triangular pieces, I do mean the recessed parts of the footrest & not just cut off the whole top half of the rearsets (if that makes sense)
I see what you mean.. I would say that is entirely possible. Plasma cut, tidy up, and then powder coat gloss black.
Drill some holes in a triangle shape if that makes sense, that way you won't loose as much strength and will look better and be lighter
If I was doing that I don't think i'd remove all of the metal out of both triangles to be honest. I think i'd go a mm or two in from the edges roughly were the radius from the hole finishes! I think it would make them stand out from the normal and if your patient and carefull should be do-able with a file and dremmel!
