I like to think you can judge a quality retailer by their aftercare. I emailed Bikespeeduk about this issue and not had a response in two days, isn't it funny that when I was purchasing the said chain/sprocket kit I was getting email responses almost immediately!

I don't think I'll be making any future purchases with this company.

Ive used WD40 for years and Wurth dry lube.. Never used brakecleaner however I use it on hundreds of rubber brake seals!! I have seen cracked o rings before but like MW says a BIG NO NO to run it with out as they also space the links of the chain, Id take pictures of the o rings and send them to the company that sold the chain maybe they can forward them to the main supplier?

DiD ZVM chains are very good.

(scrap the contact them bit! just read yer post)

Problem is DiD are hard to talk to directly!

Recently used brake cleaner and set the kitchen alight, this stuff is bloody inflammable and took the little hair I had. Thought in forestry it speeds up the next growth, not in my case with eyebrows gone I look like Grasshopper.lol

Yes indeed the mix with gas is NOT good at ALL! And HAS killed welders before! But I do ask myself why would you? maybe to clean something pre welding, as a rule I'm not into welding with flammable liquids....just setting light to them for fun... I know I should grow up!

DID have been in touch and said that the chain alignment might be slightly out therefore the O rings on one side might be under slightly more tension than the other side. They said aslong as it isn't the full O ring that has popped out and It's cleaned and lubed regularly then it will be fine to ride.

I've had another good look at the chain and it's only a very thin piece of rubber that has popped out from a few random links about the width of a course hair. Checked out the alignment too so hopefully it will be fine.

With the greatest respect to you and whoever was talkin to you mate, that is bollocks!!! You might get a few more miles out of it , more if you give it plenty of lube, but that chain is now fuc$ed. Get it sorted before it does some real damage, TO YOU!

I will, I'll replace it in the spring when the weather gets better. To be honest if they wanted the chain back to investigate, it would cost me postage and I'd have to get my mechanic to remove and replace it and he'd need paying so it would only cost me a similar amount to just get a new one fitted. The bike will probably do less than 1000 miles between now and march.

Ive got an OEM chain done 600 miles, 40 quid plus post. It needs a five quid link from your Honda dealer.. it's mint but not gold and cost 160ish!

Thanks got the offer of the chain arthur but it's got to be gold. I like a bit of bling!
