I have come on a lot since my FIRST time at your local track you will have to come to my home track one time think you will notice a difference in my riding .
Sold the ZX6RR on the hunt for a Blade will see what comes up. New job with some more wonga so working on slying a van past her in doors! Next year fo'sho!! Just looking at some new treddies for the BMW. You run 212,s on track bike right? Worth the cash?
When I went down at Oulton Park I was surprised that everyone kept quiet and waited for me to "spill the beans" on the forum. So the so called "wrestling " shenanigans must have involved other riders present at the track. SO COME ON SPILL THE BEANS!!
The 212,s are awesome mate can run rear at 18psi cold , I have done 5-6 track days on them and plan to do another 2 in October then getting slicks on Dunlop KR08 and KR06 for my Jerez trip. They didn't feel great in the wet though .
I think he is on about Andy and robins mate(sorry can't remember his name) had a run in down to cascades.both coming off track I think ,like I said not fully sure on what happened maybe Andy can explain.
i would just like to add that i didnt fall off today.. everything else went wrong though , including putting the wrong sat postcode in the sat nav and ending up 40 minutes away from the track when i got to the wrong destination .(knob) then missing most of the morning sessions due to putting my spare wet wheel onto my bike for the fist time ever, only to find it didnt fit (note to self dont believe the bloke i bought the bike off when he says it fits) i put the dry tyres on eventually only to find the bike handling like a pig and front tyre wearing funny, found i had used one of the wrong spacers with my original wheel.(double knob) then noticed my fully adjustable clip ons were set at different angles so set them up the same ,took the bike off the stands for the next session, turned the bars and found the throttle cable was pulling on the bars and revving the engine . aaargh. but then again my bike went home in one piece which is more than can be said for the poor bloke on his 13 plate r1 and quite a few other riders today .
Kinnel! I need some NAME CARDS I think! First I call Jason Wedgie Next I think Mark (YT) is called Steve, hence the thread title. Next I confuse Andy with R1 Monkey! ....................I'll get me coat, Alzheimer's must be settin' in!
Any numpty nominations from today? R1Monkey and the satnat looks like 1, R1Monkey and the spacer another R1Monkey and the... shall I stop now....!
no no.. carry on , believe me i called myself a dickhead quite a few times today. it is the first time i have turned up in someones driveway looking for the pit lane.
My take on the day.. Started out wet, (nervous) banged the wets on before the briefing and had a natter with the lads. Met robinh73 and his mate (mick?) as well as sinewave, all really top lads, wouldn't expect any less from this forum. Got out for session 1 and 2, which I spent getting overtaken by everyone and getting my confidence back slowly, slowly being the operative word. Session 3 when it looked to have stopped raining I swapped to a black visor (wanted to look cool on the pics), set off and did a first lap off warmers on the wets, felt fairly quick but started misting up so as jason fecked off down pit straight I pulled in to swap my visor to a clear. Got back out and really gave it some in the wet, fastest yet so far. Jason came back past my on my out lap and I just about held on to him. He came in having "lapped me" hence the 1-0. Sorry jas 2 side to every coin Session 4 was still fairly damp, everyone still on wets, me and Jas had a right duel!!! Fuckin awesome, kept passing each other and felt like it was only us on track everyone was miles behind! Came back in and we were both buzzing. Since we were pretty much on each other for the whole session I can say our time was 2:00 recorded on my gps- in the wet!!! After lunch we went out and it decided to rain and dampen the track just after we'd done a F1 style wheel change onto dry's and enjoyed a chilled out lunch with the usual banter. I came in straight after the sighting lap on my Supercorsa's, most came in the lap after, andy (the unhinged lunatic) stayed out and put on a good show. If only I could of been so sensible later on... Next session was the best of the day dry track, right tyres, and me a jason again lol like a pair of schoolkids didn't wait for anyone and shot off in front. Awesome battle, best session I've had this year. He put in a sneaky overtake on the brakes but then stood it up and skipped out the chicane, got back past by the end of the session. It was a 1.54 we did btw Last session I was out in front, thinking I needed to keep the pace with the whole group behind me, jason comes past into shell, I think I'm not havin this.... Get on power before its stood up and bring the back end round. Rookie rookie mistake. All I can say is I've really ridden my heart out today and have had that old 750 revving it's fuckin arse off all day to keep up with Jas, 1000cc bike is no excuse, that lad is fuckin quick. Still had a top day and although it's not the best way to end my first season I've learnt a lot. If you don't push it you might as well be out on the road IMO. Gone from bottom of novices to top half of the fast in first year, fairly happy with that. Lookin forward to buyin a bike that's got a proper ride height too, my seat as the others will concur is very very high! Once it's dropped 4 inches I don't think I'll have to lean as far to drag my knee, or shoulder, or face. I've got loads of pics and I'll upload them when I can be arsed. Top day as standard with you lot, great forum, great members. See you all soon. Particular mention to robinh73, really nice lad who has convinced me to give the old racing a go. Never met someone so chilled and yet so fast! Also great to see stifler haha, mar, r1 monkey and barney who is a very nice chap and offered to come get me last night, to say I'm just a name on a forum just goes to show how much we all like to help each other out.
